DAN C. MILLER, 64, died at 4:27 a.m. Feb. 20, 2006, at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Lima to Carl and Donna Mae Porter Miller, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Miller was a farmer and had taught music at St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Wapakoneta, and in Sistersville, W.Va. He was a musician playing in several area bands and orchestras, including the Ray Colson Orchestra, the Lima Area Concert Band, the Dixie Land 5, the Auglaize County Concert Band and the pit band for the Waynesfield-Goshen school musicals. He was a 1959 graduate of Waynesfield High School and a 1963 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He attended The Ohio State University from 1968 to 1969, where he took graduate courses in music. He was an accomplished and gifted musician who loved music, especially big band and swing styles.

Survivors include a son, James D. Miller of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Laura (Randall) Ritchie of Wapakoneta; a stepson, Peter Szabo of Ozawkie, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Leana and Joshua Ritchie, both of Wapakoneta.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield. Scot Caley will officiate. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
