Earl W. Bowersock

Wapakoneta - Earl W. Bowersock, 73, died at 1:35 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Bellwood, Pa. to John W. and Eallien Mong Bowersock, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 13, 1983, he married Jane Cline, who survives.

Mr. Bowersock retired as a mathematics teacher from Lima City Schools, after 33 years. He had also been an instructor at the Lima branch of Tiffin University for nine years. He was a life member of the National Education Association and the Lima-Allen County Retired Teachers Association. He was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church, Cridersville. He was a Marine Corps Reserve veteran. He enjoyed woodworking and harness racing and was an avid reader.

Survivors also include a son, Mark (Carrie) Bowersock, of Lima; two stepsons, Geofrey (Stephanie) Sprague, of Baton Rouge, La., and Kevin (Janet) Sprague, of Lake Jackson, Texas; a stepdaughter, Lorie (Ghasson) Zallum, of Lake Jackson, Texas; an adopted granddaughter; eight stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Barbara (Tom) Knoch, of Wapakoneta.

Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cridersville United Methodist Church, Westview Campus, Cridersville. The Rev. Jerry Wiles will officiate.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Uniopolis Fire & Emergency Medical System, the roof fund at Cridersville United Methodist Church or the Gerad Center for Cancer Treatment.
