MILDRED WARD, 83, died at 1:40 p.m. Sept. 10, 2006, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Middlesboro, Ky., to Oscar and Hazel King Jones Cranford, who preceded her in death. She married Vernell Howton who preceded her in death. She then married Jimmie Lee Ward, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ward was a homemaker. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she served on the hospitality committee and was a greeter.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Howton and Michael Ward, both of Lima, Brian Ward of Tampa, Fla., and the Rev. Dennis (Corey) Ward of Lima; two daughters, Wilma R. Howton of Lima and Betty L. Howton of Columbus; and 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters; two brothers, William "Bill" and Oscar Cranford; and a sister, Louella Cranford.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church. The Rev. Dennis Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.
