LIMA — Thursday night, Apollo Career Center hosted its annual All Areas Boards Meeting.

It’s the vocational school’s Superintendent, Judy Wells’, “favorite night of the year.”

The program included a presentation from Wells and Nate Neuenschwander, the president of Touchstone CPM, updating the audience on the progress of the Apollo Career Center. To make their point they showed videos to demonstrate both the vision and process of the ongoing construction project.

“This is for our career tech kids of today … and tomorrow,” Wells said.

The night also marked the induction of three new members of the Apollo Hall of Fame, Chris Buell, the welding supervisor from Crown Equipment, Nicole (Saunders) Scott, a marketing director and a secretary from Allen County Lima Chamber of Commerce, and Jill (Bakies) Lewis, a business owner and master stylist at Beauty by Jill, Salon and Spa.

Current student Zackery Holycross, of Elida, was also named the Charles M. Hankish Jr. Student Citizen of the year.

“He’s just always there when someone needs a helping hand,” said Charlene Holycross, Zackery’s mother.

Board representatives from Apollo’s 11 associated schools and three educational service centers were present. Senator Cliff and Representative Bob Cupp (R-Lima), as well as others, were in attendance as well.

The event was organized by school and local officials. Apollo students also contributed to the event including hospitality services, floral and catering.
