Fort Jennings

NORBERT "HOB" HOFSTETTER, 82, died at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 11, 2006, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Fort Jennings to George and Margaret Dickman Hofstetter, who preceded him in death. He married Anna Youngpeter, who died in 1995.

Mr. Hofstetter retired from Fruehauf, Delphos. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings. He was a member of American Legion Post 715, Fort Jennings, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, both in Delphos. He was a graduate of Fort Jennings High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas (Sandy) Hofstetter and Andy (Shelly) Hofstetter, both of Fort Jennings, and Jim Hofstetter of Orangeville, Utah; a daughter, Julie (Ray) Balbaugh of Continental; a sister, Lucille Carder of Delphos; eight grandchildren and four step- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alberta "Bert" Pack and Rita Mae Hofstetter.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 715 and VFW Post 3740.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harter & Schier Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Building Fund, Continental, or the American Heart Association.
