Delphos

MARIE R. HOERSTEN, 85, died the evening of Jan. 7, 2007.

She was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Delphos to John and Regina Luersman Wegesin, who preceded her in death. Her husband of 55 years, Vincent Hoersten, died in 1997.

Mrs. Hoersten retired as a cook from Delphos Jefferson High School. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. She was a volunteer at St. Rita's Medical Center since 1989. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471 Auxiliary, Delphos. She was a volunteer at the Interfaith Thrift Store, Delphos.

Survivors include a son, Larry J. (Kay) Hoersten, of Delphos; four daughters, Jan (Jerry) Barber, of Swartz Creek, Mich., Marcia (Arnold) Birkemeier and Linda (Mark O.) Miller, both of Delphos, and Diane (David) Schlegel, of Columbus; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Wegesin.

A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Father Randy Geisige will officiate. Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Interfaith Thrift Shop or St. Rita's Medical Center Auxiliary.
