HARROD

Ivalou B. McDorman, 79, died at 8:20 a.m. April 17, 2008, at Lima Memorial Health System.

She was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Lima to Harold and Lena Altstaetter Smith, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 21, 1951, she married Carl McDorman, who survives in Harrod.

Mrs. McDorman was a homemaker and a farm wife. She had been the clerk for Auglaize Township and had owned a beauty shop in Harrod. She was a member of Harrod Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of its Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Farmers Association and mission work and the Harrod Civic Club. She was a 61-year member of Merwin Rebekah Lodge 615, Cairo. She was a member of Farm Bureau Council 18 for more than 50 years. She had been a Cub Scout den mother and had worked on the election board for several years. She loved to go camping with family and friends.

Survivors also include two sons, Newt (Cindy) McDorman, of Nashville, Tenn., and Crosby (Brenda) McDorman, of Harrod; a daughter, Twyla (Mike) Preston, of Lincoln, Ala.; six grandchildren, Jessica Preston, Cathy Smiley, Kari Miller, Cameron McDorman, Nick McDorman and Garth McDorman; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Miller, Kawliga Miller and Hunter Smiley; two brothers, Arthur (Donna) Smith, of Dunedin, Fla., and Jerry Joe (Dee) Smith, of Lima; a sister, Shirley (Russell) Stubbs, of Reading, Mich.; and a sister-in-law, Glena Mae Kriewald, of Florence, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Smith; and a sister, Judy Anderson.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Harrod Christian Church. Pastors Gary Rummel and Charles Runion will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
