EMMETT E. BREITIGAM Jr., 86, died at 3:15 a.m. May 19, 2006, at his residence.

He was born March 31, 1920, in Lima to Emmett E. and Lucy Mae Keyes Breitigam Sr., who preceded him in death. On Oct. 11, 1942, he married Vera M. Walti, who survives in Wapakoneta.

Mr. Breitigam had been a farmer for most of his life and had retired from Rawls division of National Standard. He had also been a letter carrier and a school bus driver for Perry schools. He had been a member of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman.

Survivors also include seven children, Patricia (Larry) Horn of Waynesfield, Dianne (Robert) Motter of Harrod, Gary (Bev) Breitigam of Lima, Daniel (Jean) Breitigam and Dennis Breitigam, both of Wapakoneta, James (Pam) Breitigam of St. Henry and Ed (Jane) Breitigam of Wapakoneta; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Zoa Clippinger of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Breitigam; a sister, Margretta Leedy; and a great-grandson, Luke Coder.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Ernest Plemmons will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, with military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Rita's Hospice.
