ORPHA M. "EFFIE" ANDREWS, 83, died at 2:30 a.m. June 18, 2006, at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.

She was born June 23, 1922, in Wauseon to Frank and Edna Schlegel Johnson, who preceded her in death. On May 16, 1947, she married Frederic P. "Fred" Andrews, who survives.

Mrs. Andrews had been a waitress at the Argonne Hotel, Lima, and Dooley's, Beaverdam, for several years. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. She had been a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, Easter Seals, the Girl Scouts, Beaverdam ball clubs and the Beaverdam-Richland Auxiliary Fire Department.

Survivors also include two sons, Michael Andrews of Tampa, Fla., and Steven (Terri) Andrews of Lima; a sister, Joann Bauman of Fostoria; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Hauenstein; two brothers, Raymond and Wayne Johnson; and three sisters, Mary, Donna and Ruth Ann.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Bluffton. The Rev. Kevin Mohr will officiate. Burial will be in Emmanuel United Church Cemetery, Bluffton.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
