Leipsic - Paul David Ward, 82, died at 7:46 p.m. May 2, 2010, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Leipsic to Clyde and Florence Kratzer Ward, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 7, 1946, he married Juliana Ericson, who survives in Leipsic.
Mr. Ward retired as a farmer. He loved farming the land and each April he would look forward to the arrival to the first purple martins. He also retired as a trustee for Liberty Township after 30 years. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leipsic. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2793, a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9547 and a charter member of the Leipsic Hunting and Fishing Association, all in Leipsic. He was a loyal fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Leipsic Vikings. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
Survivors also include three children, Rob (Kathy) Ward, of Leipsic, Diana (Michael) McIntosh, of Findlay, and Paula (Charles) Clapper, of Findlay; six grandchildren, Nicole (Tim) Manley, Ryan (Kerry) Clapper, Christopher Clapper, Brent (Stacey) Ward, Barry Ward and Shane Ward; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Delethia) Ward, of Leipsic; and three sisters, Bernice (Forrest) Rayle, of Leipsic, Darlene (Milton) Deffenbaugh, of Vaughnsville, and Ruth Ann Watkins, of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leipsic. Pastor George Zornow will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Bridge Home Health Hospice.
