Walter A. Lange

Walter A. Lange, 86, died at 7:15 a.m. Dec. 13, 2010, at Otterbein Care Center, Cridersville.

He was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Lima to August Paul and Lena Wilhelmena Kuckherman Lange, who preceded him in death. On May 22, 1943, he married Margery Athene Baber, who died June 4, 2004.

Mr. Lange had been a farmer and a brick mason for Tuttle Construction Co. He was a member of First Evangelical and Reformed Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, American Legion Post 96 and Fort Amanda Lodge 706 Free & Accepted Masons.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (Terry) Lange, of Lima; three daughters, Kathy E. (Steven) Niebel, of Coral Springs, Fla., and Paula A. Hughes and Shelley A. (John) Gould, both of Lima; seven grandchildren, Daryl (Susan) Lange, Michele (Barry) MacKinnon, Trevor Hughes, Joshua (Shannon) Gould, Troy Hughes, Stacy Gould and Timothy Gould; and five great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Niebel; and two brothers, Frederick Karl and Eric Lange.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Ed Rinehart will officiate. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Special Olympics.
