Everyone talks about northeastern Ohio high school football. Take a look at the latest AP state poll released Monday, and tell me our area doesn't rank right there with them.
In Division IV, Kenton and Ottawa-Glandorf are one and three, respectively. Those two teams face off Friday in Ottawa, with so much on the line other than AP ranking. I'll be there, and I cannot wait.
In Division VI, Delphos St. John's is in its customary role as top dog. The Blue Jays received the third most amount of first place votes among the six divisions. Right behind the Jays are MAC rival Marion Local, so keep an eye out for that game looming on the horizon.
Cleveland and Youngstown can have the big divisions. I'll take the small schools.
In boys golf, the Western Buckeye League race got a lot more interesting with Shawnee's win over Defiance at Shawnee Country Club. That puts those two teams, plus Van Wert at 6-1. Wapakoneta is right behind at 4-2.
Speaking of Wapakoneta, Dawn West is doing a tremendous job building that girls golf team from scratch. Don't look now, but the Redskins are 7-3 after Monday's win against Celina.
The Bath girls soccer score caught my eye, 8-0, with Ali Manley and Jocelyn Ayers each scoring three goals.
