Wapakoneta - Florence J. Smith, 93, died at 8:18 a.m. May 2, 2010, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
She was born March 6, 1917, in Auglaize County to Jesse and Cordelia Horn Bowdle, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 30, 1942, she married Cloice A. Smith, who died Jan. 19, 2010.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was also a farm wife, helping on the farm, especially milking cows. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and playing the piano.
Survivors include two children, Martha (Ruhl) Warden, of Lima, and Paul (Judith) Smith, of Wapakoneta; four grandchildren, Cynthia Warden, Rhonda (Michael) Neumann, Mike (Kathleen) Smith and Denise (Reggie) Green; four great-grandchildren, Frederick Neumann, Isaiah Smith, Simon Smith and Alessandra Green; two sisters, Lenore Bowdle, of Wooster and Dorothy (Dr. Robert) Kugel, of Arlington, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John T. Bowdle; and three sisters, Laurel Bowdle, Alice Stroh and Grace Smith.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Pastor R.J. Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
