Rowena E. Wagasy, 89, died at 7:35 p.m. Nov. 27, 2010, at The Ridge at Shawnee.
She was born May 3, 1921, in Redford, Mich., to Raymond Allen and Clara Anderson Griffen, who preceded her in death. On June 14, 1941, she married William J. Wagasy, who died Aug. 18, 1975.
Mrs. Wagasy was a member of First Assembly of God, where she had been active and involved for several years and had directed and organized funeral dinners for 25 years. She had also been in charge of arranging physical necessities for any visiting missionaries or evangelists. She especially enjoyed a trip to the Holy Land with her church family.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Bergstrom Wagasy, of Dublin; two sons, Dr. William Allen (Dianna) Wagasy, of Springfield, Mo., and James Brian (Karin) Wagasy, of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Raymond (Cleo) Griffen, of Charlotte, N.C., and Robert Griffen, of Purvis, Miss.; a sister, Vivian DeMarais, of Phoenix; seven grandchildren, Nicole Renee Bergstrom, Brenten Richard (Erica) Bergstrom, Amy Marnette (Lance) Robbins, Billy Jason Wagasy, James Tyler Wagasy, Tambry Burkhead and Tiffany Couch; three great-granddaughters, twins, McKenzie Marnette Robbins and Charlie Anne-Lynn Robbins and Alexandria Cecilia Robbins.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God. The Rev. Randy Davis and the Rev. Jerry Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
