Zennie Daniel Garrett, 89, died at 1:22 a.m. Feb. 15, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Coffeeville, Miss., to Ezra and Hattie Swanigan Daniel, who preceded her in death. She married Hubert Robinson, who preceded her in death. She then married Peter Garrett, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Garrett had been a cook at Lugis Restaurant and the Alpine Village. She later worked in housekeeping at the Argonne Hotel. She had been a member of St. Luke Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include a son, Riley Gee, of Lima; a daughter, Ruthie (Grady) Clemons, of Lima; five grandchildren, Aaron Clemons, Yolanda Clemons, Stevon Clemons, Marcus Clemons and Darrell E. Gee; an adopted granddaughter, Yolanda Rivers; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rolena William, of Troy; and two special friends, Claretha Cole and Shirley Nance.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella Profit and Catherine Flora; and a brother, James Daniel.
Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Toney will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
