PITTSBURGH — Shawnee graduate Emily Murphy is among members of Pittsburgh’s men’s and women’s swim team competing this weekend in the 2015 USA Swimming Spring Long Course Speedo Sectionals in Buffalo, N.Y., at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center at Erie Community College.
To compete, student-athletes had to meet a qualifying time associated with each event. Under USA Swimming sanctions, the meet will be held in long course meters compared to the short course yards Pitt has swum in all season. This meet will feature swimmers within the Eastern Zone region. Murphy is one of Pitt’s top competitors in the 50 freestyle and the school record in the event with a time of 23.06 seconds.
