Marlene L. Eckenwiler, 63, of Anderson, Ind., formerly of Beaverdam, died Aug. 4, 2010, after a four-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Lima to Roy and Ann Smeltzer Vorhes, who preceded her in death. She married Howard Eckenwiler, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Eckenwiler was a lifelong resident of Beaverdam and had moved to Anderson, Ind., in May to be with her children. She retired from Consolidated Biscuit Co., McComb, after 25 years. Her family was the most important part of her life. She had a loving and caring attitude and was always ready to help others. She loved being able to be with her children and grandchildren in Anderson, Ind.
Survivors include two children, Michael Thompson and Michelle (Frank) Diaz, both of Anderson, Ind.; five grandchildren, Anita Thompson, of Anderson, Ind., Madison Thompson and Myla Thompson, both of Michigan, Valanne Smith, of Cincinnati, and Jessica Bame, of Lima; two great-grandchildren, Aliyan White, of Cincinnati, and Dradin Derringer, of Lima; and two brothers, Daniel Caverson and Scott Caverson, both of Owasso, Mich.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kamilah White; and two sisters, Jan and Jill Caverson.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, Anderson, Ind. The Rev. Danny St. Clair will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.
