5K Race

Check-in starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday

The 2nd Annual Chiropractic Keeps Me Moving 5K race will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Car-E-It Party Shop, 1206 E. Main St., Ottawa. The cost is $40 per runner, which includes the a race T-shirt. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ohio Chiropractic Foundation.

‘Best in Show’ Dog Show Comes to Lima

8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The Western Ohio Cluster is an all-breed, three-day dog show with exhibitors and dogs coming from all points of the United States. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is $5 at 1050 Thayer Road, Lima.

Observe Rare Planetary Alignment

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday

Throughout June, experience the Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn alignment, when the planets line up from left to right at dawn in their orbital order from the sun. The last time it occurred was 18 years ago. This Friday may be the last chance to view it during a Schoonover Observatory meeting at Schoonover Park, 670 N. Jefferson St., Lima. The next time all the planets align will not be until 2040.

Friday Night Motor Sports

7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday

Limaland Motorsports concludes this season’s Friday Night Motorsport races with their ‘Firecracker Friday’ event at the Limaland Motorsports Park, 1500 Dutch Hollow Road, Lima. Races include Sprints, UMP Modifieds, Thunderstocks, and more. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., and grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. Warm-up laps begin at 6:30 p.m. and racing takes place from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

ONU to host ‘Patriotic Pops’ concert

7 p.m Saturday

The Lima Symphony Orchestra will perform a free, public Patriotic Pops concert on the sculpture mall east of McIntosh Center between Presser and Weber halls at Ohio Northern University in Ada. Maestro Andrew Crust will direct several Independence Day-themed musical selections. Boxed meals are available from The Inn and include ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, or veggie wraps.
