Grove tops Jefferson in softball

COLUMBUS GROVE — The host Bulldogs scored five runs in the fifth inning Thursday on their way to an 8-3 Northwest Conference victory against Delphos Jefferson.

Brooke Hoffman had two hits and Tori Warnecke and Mackenzie Wurth each had a hit and an RBI for Grove. Winning pitcher Grace Schroeder went seven innings, allowing two earned runs, four hits and three walks while striking out three.

Kaylin Hartsock had two hits and Claire Thompson had a hit and an RBI for the Wildcats.

Marion Local 7

MARIA STEIN — Shawnee’s Kenzie Suever and Marion Local’s Sarah Fesenmeyer each homered in a game originally scheduled to be played at Shawnee.

BATH TOWNSHIP — Singles players Zach Beaschler, Cade Mullins and Evan Smittle won for Ada. The doubles teams of Bryce Hinegardner and Jacob Clark and Kyle Lhamon and Garet Norton won for Bath.

LIMA — Singles players Spencer Collins, Ben Brinkman and Logan Korzan and the doubles team of Troy Hile and Sam Meredith won for LCC.

ST. MARYS — Singles players Bobby Miller and Riley Niekamp and the doubles team of Jacob Grannan and Josh Wingett won for St. Marys. Singles player Drew Rosengarten and the doubles team of Bryce Lagenkamp and Kyle Lochtefeld won for Celina.

Versailles tri meet

VERSAILLES — Minster won the boys team title with 107.5 points followed by Fort Recovery (44) and Versailles (23.5).

Minster swept the four relays and 10 individual events with Ben Butler winning the 800 and 1,600 and Jason Schultz winning the discus and shot put.

Versailles won the girls team crown with 69 points followed by Minster (51) and Fort Recovery (48). Minster’s Mariana Slonkosky won the 800 and 1,600 and Fort Recovery’s Kiah Wendel won the 100 and 200.
