CINCINNATI (AP) — A Maryland homicide suspect accused of pulling a knife on a police officer who then shot him along Interstate 75 in suburban Cincinnati has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and felonious assault.
Pablo Javier Aleman entered the plea Thursday in a Hamilton County court. A judge kept his bond at $1 million.
The charges stem from a March 29 encounter with a Glendale police officer in suburban Evendale.
Police say the 46-year-old Aleman was walking along the highway and pulled a knife after the officer approached to offer assistance. Aleman was shot once in the abdomen.
The officer wasn't hurt. A prosecutor decided the policeman won't be charged.
Authorities say Aleman was wanted by Baltimore County police in Maryland in connection with a March 17 stabbing death.
