FindlayA 21-year-old man was injured in a Friday morning accident near Findlay.Austin Tong was injured in the accident that occurred at the intersection of township Road 212 and county Road 18 at about 9:47 a.m. Friday. According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Tong was westbound on township Road 212 when he drove through a red light and into the path of a truck driven by John Craun Jr., 37, of Fostoria. Craun was not injured in the accident. Tong was taken to Blanchard Valley Medical Center for treatment for “non-incapacitating injuries” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Dominguez, 45, of Clearwater, Fla., was driving a 1984 Peterbilt tractor-trailer south on Route 68 when another vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the tractor-trailer on the left side, according to an official with the Findlay post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.Randall Weyant, 20, of Forest, was driving a 1996 Honda Civic when it struck the tractor-trailer. He was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital, where a spokeswoman said he was discharged later Sunday morning. His passenger, 20-year-old Ryan J. Gill, of Findlay, had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.Dominguez was uninjured.
DELPHOSA vehicle struck and broke a power pole at East Fifth Street between North Main and North Washington streets causing a power outage Thursday evening.Sgt. David Clark of the Delphos Police Department said the vehicle hit the power pole at about 4 p.m. He said half the city was without power and the road had been blocked off, with American Electric Power crews and police officials on scene.AEP spokeswoman Jennah Cheripko said a circuit had to be turned off in order to repair the broken power pole, and power wasn’t expected to be restored until after 11 p.m. About 1,141 customers in the Delphos area were still without power about 10:20 p.m.

FINDLAYA Findlay man was hospitalized with minor injuries after a Sunday afternoon single-vehicle accident.James Thomas, 36, of Findlay, was driving west on state Route 568, east of county Road 180, when he fainted and drove off the right side of the road at about 3:45 p.m., according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle traveled through a ditch, struck a mound of dirt and went airborne before traveling back across the road. His 2007 Hyundai came to a rest in a ditch on the north side of state Route 568.Hanco EMS took Thomas to Blanchard Valley Hospital for minor injuries.
CELINA — A Celina man died in a motorcycle accident Sunday night just before midnight.Jeremiah Walter Larsen, 28, of Celina, was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle east on Oregon Road, just west of Stose Road, when he went off the left side of the road, according to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office. After leaving the roadway, Larsen traveled through a field and was ejected when the motorcycle crossed a creek bed.Larsen was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. What caused him to go off the road was unkown.Deputies were dispatched after a 911 caller reported hearing a motorcycle pass, followed by squealing tires and a crash at 11:56 p.m.This is the first traffic fatality in Mercer County for 2011, according to the Sheriff's Office.

LEIPSIC — A 22-year-old Leipsic woman died after an all-terrain vehicle accident Saturday.At about 6:30 p.m. Brenda L. Schulte and 19-year-old Brian J. Berger, of Leipsic, were westbound on Road B, west of Road 6, on a Suzuki ATV when they went off the right side of the road and struck a power pole. Both riders were ejected.Schulte was pronounced dead at the scene and Berger was taken to St. Rita's Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday.
GilboaA scuba diver was taken to Lima Memorial Health System for precautions after diving at Gilboa Quarry.The Putnam County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at 10:50 a.m. Sunday when a 58-year-old ascended to check on another diver, according to the Sheriff's Office.David Rosech, of Mount Vernon, reported ascending as slow as possible to check on another diver he saw ascending. While doing so, Rosech coughed and inhaled a small amount of water. He was taken to the hospital to be checked.

LIMA — It could be a while before officials know the cause of the crash that killed two men Sunday, Allen County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jim Everett said this morning. Kevin K. “Kody” Knight, 25, of Columbus Grove, and Bryan E. Taylor, 24, of Lima, were ejected from a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred just before 3 a.m. on Thayer Road, just north of state Route 81. “Since they were both ejected, it could be tougher,” Everett said of determining what happened. There were no witnesses. A motorist reported the accident after seeing the vehicle on the road. The Allen County Coroner’s Office is testing the two men’s blood.
