Roundup: Walk-off walk lifts Crestview into district tournament

CONVOY - Ian Zollars worked a walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning to give host Crestview a 3-2 victory in the Division IV sectional final game. The Knights will play Fort Recovery at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Coldwater.

Ian Clay doubled and had two RBIs for Crestview. Tony Springer had three singles.

David Wurst had two singles and a run scored for Ottoville.

Parkway 7, St. Henry 4

Jenson Painter dominated for Parkway in the Division III sectional final. Painter cranked a grand slam in the fourth inning, tripled and pitched a complete game, striking out 11 batters. Jordan Thompson tripled and Jeremy Heiser went 2-3 with two runs scored.

Jason Westgerdes went 2-4 for St. Henry.

Parkway will play Ottawa-Glandorf in the district semifinals on Thursday at Elida.

Minster 4, New Knoxville 0

Allen Heitbrink tossed a no-hitter in the Division IV sectional final at Minster on Thursday. New Knoxville had just one base runner, Kyle Merges, who struck out but reached on a wild pitch. Heitbrink struck out 11 and walked none. Minster will play in the district semifinal at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at Coldwater.

Fort Recovery 4, New Bremen 0

Bobby Rammel was 2-for-3 with two runs scored as Fort Recovery won the Division IV sectional final at Minster on Thursday. Fort Recovery plays in the district semifinal at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at Coldwater.

Greg Kahlig pitched a complete game for the victory.

REGULAR SEASON

Miller City 15, Wayne Trace 3

Tony Schroeder doubled twice, scored twice and had two RBIs for the Wildcats (13-8). Rusty Lemmers homered and had two RBIs. Kyle Hoffman got the win.

Leipsic 4, Kalida 1

Luke Haselman and Nate Schroeder each homered in the PCL victory at Kalida.

Brian Goodwin doubled for the Vikings (15-6, 5-2) while Ryan Morin got the win. Kalida falls to 7-13, 3-2.

SOFTBALL

TOURNAMENTS

Napoleon 8, Defiance 2

Napoleon scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to break the game open in the Division II sectional game at Defiance.

REGULAR SEASON

Crestview 11, Columbus Grove 6

Kelsey Nedderman cracked a three-run homer and Kayla Richardson had a two-run home run for Crestview (22-1). Ashley Birchmeier and Breanne Schroeder each had two doubles for Columbus Grove.

Coldwater 6, Parkway 4

Teresa Hess belted a grand slam as Coldwater blew up for six runs in the top of the third.

Emily Crowell doubled and homered for Parkway (15-6).

TENNIS

St. Marys 3, Oak Harbor 2

Jameel Brenneman, Michael Schmitmeyer and Joseph Brenneman each had a singles victory and St. Marys won the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association tournament match.
