ELIDA - Host Elida defeated Fort Jennings 4-0 and Napoleon beat Bluffton 5-1 in the opening round of the Elida Soccer Classic boys soccer tournament.
Cody Warris, Rashan Lee and Nate Good each scored for Elida in the win while Cody Sanderson had two saves. Patrick Garlock scored a goal for Bluffton in the loss.
Elida will meet Napoleon at 7 p.m. Saturday in the championship game following the Bluffton-Fort Jennings consolation game.
TEMPLE CHRISTIAN 4, LCC 2: Dylan Pritchett scored twice for Temple Christian in the victory while Marcus Craig and Zach White each scored a goal. LCC's Shawn Ritchie scored twice.
SHAWNEE 1, MIAMISBURG 1: Nate Eller scored Shawnee's goal in the season opener while Austin Howard had four saves in goal.
GIRLS TENNIS
ELIDA 3, VAN WERT 2: Elida (3-2) took two of three single matches and one doubles match to top Van Wert (1-2).
Jessie Adkins and Jessica Stambaugh won their single matches while Gretchen Klinker (Van Wert) defeated Emily Fernandez of Elida in the third singles match.
Amy Sarno along with partner Amanda Brickner of Elida took the first doubles match. Van Wert was able to take the second doubles match from Elida. Grace Baird and Bethany Merold were able to win the second doubles match in three sets.
SHAWNEE 5, KENTON 0: Vidhi Madan led the way for Shawnee with the first of three singles victories followed by wins from Liz Mart and Lauren Rovner.
Sowmay Balvsa teamed up with Katie Brim as they won the first doubles match.
OTTAWA-GLANDORF 3, DEFIANCE 2: Ottawa-Glandorf won both doubles matches en route to defeating visiting Defiance.
Katelyn Utendorf and Stacy Kahle teamed up for one doubles win for O-G, while Kari Leatherman and Mandi Utendorf won the other doubles match. Megan Schroeder won at No. 1 singles for the Titans.
For Defiance, Renae VanBrackel and Jenna Thomas won singles matches.
ST. MARYS 5, BATH 0: Megan Dominik, Kelly Fritz and Amy Ellis each won singles matches to help St. Marys improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the WBL. Lydia Krugh and Mariah Krugh won at No. 1 doubles; Mallorie Sullivan and Amanda Rupard won at No. 2 doubles.
CELINA 5, WAPAKONETA 0: Amber Jaeger, Rachel Smith and Shelby Decker each won singles matches in the match at Wapak. Kinzie Gardner and Sara Dorsten won at first doubles, while Sharce Werling and Katie Pyle won a second doubles.
BOYS GOLF
SHAWNEE 163, KENTON 186: Medalist Cody Kopilchack's 39 led Shawnee to a Western Buckeye League victory over Kenton at the Shawnee Country Club on Thursday.
Michael Malone (41), Cody Ciminillo (41), Johnny Ellis (42) and Jay Hanes (42) were the Indian's low scorers.
Cody Barker, Kenton, shot a 42.
VAN WERT 155, ELIDA 181: Andrew Bashore's 37 was good for medalist honors as Van Wert won the WBL match at Willow Bend. Brandt Taylor shot a 38 for the Cougars. J.J. Jackson shot a 38 for Elida.
GIRLS GOLF
SHAWNEE 187, LIMA CENTRAL CATHOLIC 200: Despite Ellen Huffman's medalist award, the Thunderbirds (1-1) fell short of victory against the Indians (2-0).
For Shawnee, Kate Hoops shot a 43 while Sheridan Balyeat knocked her way into scoring a 47. Abigal Ranch scored a 48 and teammate's Amanda Sank and Hailey Johnson each shot a 49.
Medalist Ellen Huffman guided the way for LCC, leading Ali Whitney (48) and Celeste Shanahan (56).
DELPHOS ST. JOHN'S 204, PARKWAY 218: Morgan Wells fired a 47 for medalist honors as St. John's for a nonleague victory.
Also for the Blue Jays (2-2), Abbey Martin had a 50, Dani Hale shot a 52, Katie Kundert shot a 55 and Jessica Alt had a 63.
Parkway's scorers included Emily Winings (49), Alyssa Evans (56), Kara Heiser (56), Abby Evans (57), Chelsie O'Neill (58) and Jenifer Thomas (65).
BATH 213, WAPAKONETA 224: Bath's Ashley Swartz shot a 38 for medalist honors for the Wildkittens. Caitlyn Dugan shot a 44 for Bath while Katie Kessen's 51 was low for the Redskins.
GIRLS SOCCER
KALIDA 6, ADA 0: Leah Gerding and Nikki Kaufman each scored two goals to lift the Wildcats while keeper Steph Kortokrax had four saves. Kara Kaufman and Marissa Smith each scored a goal.
FORT JENNINGS 3, WAPAKONETA 2: Kelly Faller scored twice for Wapak in the loss.
OTTAWA-GLANDORF 4, BLUFFTON 0: Emily Maag and Brooke Zynda each scored for the Titans in the victory. Bluffton's Charlie Wingate had 22 saves in goal.
LCC 2, MILLER CITY 2: Marla Hoffman scored twice for LCC in a game at Miller City. Leah Lammers and Jessica Neinberg each scored for the Wildcats.
SYLVANIA SOUTHVIEW 8, SHAWNEE 0: Sylvania Southview outshot host Shawnee 21-3 in the victory.
CRESTVIEW 4, CORY-RAWSON 0: Madison Etzler, Sarah Taylor, Shena Simmons and Carlee Messerd each scored for Crestview in the win.
