Klima’s seventh-inning shot advances Spencerville past LCC

 

SPENCERVILLE - Spencerville's Catlin Klima roped a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to score Andrea Lee for the winning run in a Division IV sectional softball tournament game Saturday against Lima Central Catholic. The Bearcats (6-11) advance to play Perry at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Klima also doubled for Spencerville, Brooke Moeller doubled twice and Andrea Lee doubled.

Emily Huffman, Rachel Ilig and Paige Beiderman each doubled for the Thunderbirds.

Ada 4, Upper Scioto Valley 1

Pitcher Megan Sybert allowed one walk and one earned run in pitching the Bulldogs to a win in a Division IV sectional opener at Arlington.

Ashley Hays was 2-for-4 with a run scored for Ada (4-13), which takes on Riverdale at 5 p.m. Monday.

Jenna Lautenschlager tripled and singled for USV while Alicia Larue and Jessika Beltz each went 2-3.

Waynesfield-Goshen 12, Temple Christian 0

Pitcher Shelby Gilroy allowed one hit in the five-inning Division IV sectional at Spencerville. Waynesfield will face Allen East at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Lindsay Harmon was 2-4 for the Tigers.

Perrysburg 10, Lima Senior 0

The Spartans managed just one hit in the Division I sectional game at Bowling Green.

Upper Sandusky 4, Kenton 3

Upper Sandusky scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to hold off Kenton in the Division II sectional tournament game at Fostoria.

Julia Stalder and Abby Heilman each went 2-3 while Sarah Price doubled.

Pandora-Gilboa, Miller City win

Pandora-Gilboa knocked off Leipsic 4-2 while Miller City beat McComb 3-1 in a pair of Division IV sectional games at Deshler. Pandora-Gilboa will play Patrick Henry at 6 p.m. Monday while Miller City plays Van Buren at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Fort Recovery 2, Marion Local 0

Kinsey Wenning tossed a complete-game shutout as the Indians won the Division IV sectional game at New Bremen and will take on St. Henry at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Kelly Sudhoff doubled for Fort Recovery.

New Bremen 1, Minster 0

Stacy Timmerman threw a two-hitter as the Cardinals claimed the Division IV sectional win at New Breman. New Bremen faces Parkway at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

BASEBALL

Findlay 11, Lima Senior 4

Casey Reed roped a three-run single for Spartans in the Division I sectional tournament loss at Bowling Green. Lima Senior falls to 1-14.

Paulding 5, Swanton 3

Haden Sholl doubled, singled and had two RBIs as Paulding won the Division III sectional game at Patrick Henry. Jarod Riley picked up the pitching victory. Paulding advances to play Liberty Center at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Fort Recovery 8, Waynesfield 0

Greg Kahlig struck out 15 batters and allowed two walks and two hits in the Division IV sectional victory at Minster. The Indians will take on New Bremen at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Ottoville 6, Lincolnview 2

Ottoville struck for six runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Division IV sectional victory at Crestview. Matt Niemeyer doubled and Alex Odenweller had two RBIs. Colbey Basinger picked up the win for Ottoville (9-11), which will play Crestview at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Brock Provit had two doubles and an RBI for Lincolnview.

Fort Jennings 5, Wayne Trace 3

Matt Krietemeyer doubled and singled as Fort Jennings won the Division IV sectional game at Crestview. Fort Jennings will play Delphos Jefferson at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Josh Calvelage had two RBIs for the Musketeers while Ross Gerdeman got the win.

Vanlue 15, Hardin Northern 2

Vanlue cracked 11 hits and Hardin Northern had six errors in a Division IV sectional game at Riverdale. Kyle Albert singled, doubled and had an RBI for the Polar Bears.

Evergreen 4, Bluffton 1

Evergreen's three-run sixth inning was the difference in the Division III sectional game at Patrick Henry.

Andrew Keeler and Matt Saderman had two singles and four stolen bases for the Pirates (4-11-2).
