COLDWATER — Austin Bruns threw five touchdown passes in the first half and Coldwater smoked Casstown Miami East 42-7 in a Division V regional quarterfinal game Saturday at Coldwater.
Coldwater (11-0) will take on West Liberty Salem (11-0) at 7 p.m. Saturday at a site to be determined. West Liberty Salem beat Dayton Christian 28-14.
Bruns finished with 353 yards passing with five touchdowns, completing 20-of-26 passes. Caleb Siefring pulled in four catches for 81 yards with two TDs, Mitch Schoenherr had 80 yards receiving with three catches and a touchdown, Josh Huber had a touchdown, catching three passes for 69 yards and Brody Hoying caught two passes for 22 yards and a touchdown. Coldwater allowed Miami East 104 total yards (67 rushing, 37 passing).
Marion Local volleyball back to state
VANDALIA — Marion Local’s volleyball team stormed past Fort Loramie 25-19, 25-16, 25-14 in the Division IV regional final match at Vandalia Butler on Saturday.
Claire Heitkamp had 10 kills and 3 aces for Marion Local, Josie Winner had 8 kills, Hannah Heitbrink had 3 blocks and 4 kills, Allie Wendel had 5 aces, Gina Kramer had 6 kills, megan Wendel had 19 digs and Hannah Arling had 25 assists.
The Flyers (24-3) will compete in the state semifinals at 2 p.m. Friday at Wright State against Buckeye Central. Marion Local is back at state for the fourth time in sixth years.
Coldwater falls to Ready
FINDLAY — The Coldwater volleyball team fell to Bishop Ready on Saturday 25-21, 25-18, 10-25, 25-23 in the Division III regional finals at Findlay.
