Metzger, Geise lead area All-Ohioans

Ottawa-Glandorf’s T.J. Metzger was named first team All-Ohio in the Division III and Division IV All-Ohio teams that were released on Tueday.



The teams were selected based on the selections of the media from the all-district teams.



Metzger was named first team on the Division III team. He is averaging 16.9 points in helping his Titans to the state tournament.



Lima Central Catholic’s Martyce Kimbrough and Paulding’s Lance Foor were named special mention all-state in Division III.



Ottawa-Glandorf’s Michael Rosebrock was named honorable mention.



In Division IV, Delphos St. John’s Curtis Geise, St. Henry’s Kyle Stahl and Fort Recovery’s Wade Gelhaus were all named to the second team.



Geise averaged 20.4 points. Stahl averaged 18.5 points, while Gelhaus averaged 19.7.



Leipsic’s Devin Mangas, Columbus Grove’s Will Vorhees, Fort Recovery’s Elijah Kahlig and New Bremen’s Carson Manger all received honorable mention.



St. Henry coach Eric Rosenbeck was one of the state Coaches of the Year. Also named Coaches of the Year were Michael Bates, Cols. Africentric and Josh Sagester, New Madison Tri-Village.



The Division IV Players of the Year were Vanlue’s Zach Garber and Newark Catholic’s Jett Speelman. The 6-10 Garber averaged 23 points per game. The 6-7 Speelman averaged 18.3.



Joining Speelman and Garber on the Division IV first team were Max Kapron, Malvern; Ryan Arington, Cin. Christian; Chad Oliver, Bristolville Bristo; Duane Gibson Jr., Cleve. VASJ; Chad Lands, Beaver Eastern; and Eric Cellier, Tol. Christian, 6-2, sr., 21.7.



The Division III Players of the Year were Cincinnati Summit Country Day’s Kevin Johnson, Bloom-Carroll’s Isaac McGlone and Beachwood’s John Davis III.



Johnson averaged 19.4. McGone averaged 20.6, while Davis averaged 20.3.



Joining Metzger, Johnson, McGlone and Davis on the first team were Shon Smith, Beverly Fort Frye; Peyton Aldridge, Leavittsburg LaBrae; Zac Carter, Ironton; and Evan Bradds, Jamestown Greeneview.



The Division III Coaches of the year are Jim Linder, Haviland Wayne Trace; Brian Terrill, Richwood North Union; and Brian Neal, St. Bernard Roger Bacon.
