SPENCERVILLE — Spencerville trailed 28-22 at halftime, but blitzed out of the gates in the second half to beat visiting New Bremen 53-44 in non-league boys basketball action on Saturday. Spencerville outscored New Bremen 20-5 in the third quarter to build a 42-33 lead heading into the fourth.

Zach Goecke drilled three 3-pointers and scored 16 points to lead the Bearcats (12-7) while Derek Goecke had 12 points and Devon Cook added 10 points. Luke Schwieterman and Justin Heitkamp both scored 10 points for New Bremen (17-5).

Allen East 82, Waynesfield-Goshen 70

WAYNESFIELD — Clay Plaugher and Tanner Richardson each scored 21 points and Allen East drilled seven 3-pointers to beat host Waynesfield-Goshen.

Matt Shuey added 19 points for the Mustangs. Dylan Little scored 22 points for W-G, sinking six 3s, while Lee Turner had 15 points, Lake Turner had 14 points and Garrett Miller added 10 points.

Ottawa-Glandorf 58, Perrysburg 50

OTTAWA — T.J. Metzger’s 23 points led the Titans past non-league visiting Perrysburg. Michael Rosebrock had 17 points for O-G and Noah Bramlage had 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 points. The Titans improve to 18-3.

Leipsic 55, Ottoville 52

OTTOVILLE — Leipsic clinched the PCL championship with the win at Ottoville. The Vikings are 17-4 overall and 6-0 in the PCL while Ottoville is 8-13, 3-4.

Austin Brown had 22 points for Leipsic while Devon Mangas had 14 points, 3 steals and 7 rebounds. Ryan Honigford scored 13 points for Ottoville, Luke Schimmoeller had 12 points and Derek Schimmoeller finished with 11 points.

Columbus Grove 67, Miller City 56

MILLER CITY — Derek Rieman scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Grove in the PCL victory. Collin Grothaus had 13 points for the Bulldogs (14-7 overall, 6-1), Will Vorhees had 12 points and Jace Darbyshire added 11 points. Russell Niese had 17 points for Miller City (15-6, 4-3) and Ross Kaufman had 14 points.

Perry 52, Botkins 43

BOTKINS — Bruce Hodges netted 18 points to lead Perry past Botkins. Perry improves to 7-14 while Botkins is 16-6. Jared Poling added 16 points for the Commodores and Corey Smith had 8 points.

Temple Christian 49, Cory-Rawson 45

RAWSON — Justin Kroehler and Andrew Rhoad each scored 15 points to lead Temple Christian to the non-league win. Evan Sutton finished with 12 points for the Pioneers (15-6). Matt Alspach scored 17 points for the Hornets (11-10) and Tyler Harris scored 13 points.

Kalida 63, Van Buren 54

KALIDA — Cody Mathew ripped off a big performance, scoring 29 points to lead Kalida past Van Buren. Mathew drilled six 3-pointers for Kalida while Devin Kortokrax scored 17 points. Kalida led 36-21 at halftime.

Fort Jennings 59, Pandora-Gilboa 44

PANDORA — Fort Jennings outscored P-G 17-8 in the fourth quarter to salt the game away. Kurt Warnecke had 16 points and Nick Von Sossan had 15 points for the Musketeers (6-15). Jared Triplehorn hit four 3-pointers and scored 17 points for the Rockets (4-17).

Wapakoneta 63, Coldwater 51

COLDWATER — Alex Greve had 18 points to lead Wapak past Coldwater. Wapak made 26-of-44 field goals (59.1 percent) while Codlwater was at 17-of-34 (50 percent). Travis Bertram had 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists for Wapak and Jake Buzzard had 10 points. Austin Bruns finished with 18 points for Coldwater while Brody Hoying and Derek Thobe had 10 poitns apiece.

USV 71, Hardin Northern 46

McGUFFEY — Woody Prater’s 15 points led four USV players in double digits. Lane Hurley and Dylan Hunsicker each had 13 points for the Rams and Shane Rofe scored 12 points. Kyle Hipsher had 15 points for the Polar Bears and Hayden Bradley finished with 10 points.

Crestview 60, New Knoxville 36

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Knights broke open a tight game in the third period, outscoring the Rangers 23-8 in the quarter. Connor Lautzenheiser scored 17 points for Crestview, Damian Helm had 12 points, Tyson Bolenbaugh scored 11 points and Cam Etzler had 10 points. Jake Allen finished with 14 points for New Knoxville and Shane Topp had 8 points.

Girls Basketball

Pandora-Gilboa 40, Columbus Grove 37

PANDORA — Megan Maag scored a game-high 14 points and Pandora-Gilboa edged visiting Columbus Grove in a PCL contest. P-G improves to 15-7 overall and 5-2 in the PCL while Grove falls to 5-17, 1-6.

Maag also had 5 rebounds for the Rockets. Sydney McCluer had 9 points and 6 assists for Grove.


Division II Sectional

BOWLING GREEN — In the Bowling Green South sectional tournament, Wapakoneta was third with 154.5 points behind champion Clyde (258) and Toledo Central Catholic (255). Van Wert was tied for fifth with 102 points, Elida was ninth with 83.5, Celina was 12th with 49 and Kenton was 13th with 25 points.

Elida’s Nick Pauff won the 132 championship. Wapakoneta’s Alec Brown was the 195-pound champion. And Van Wert’s Terrin Contreras won the 285-pound title.

In the Bowling Green North sectional tournament, Perkins won with 125 points followed by Wauseon (196.5). Shawnee was seveth with 109.5 and St. Marys was eighth with 87 points.

Shawnee’s Hunter Lucas won the 106-pound weight class.

The top four wrestlers from each sectional head to next week’s districts.  Division I results from Mansfield were unavailable.
