Bath

Coach: Diane French

Years, Record at School: 3rd, N/A

Division: II

Last Year’s Record: 3-9, 1-9 WBL

Returning Letterwinners: Tanner Orton (Sr., singles), Jacob Short (Sr., doubles).

Promising Newcomers: Kyle Spagg (Soph., singles), Mitch Fisher (Soph., doubles), Mitch Skinner (Sr.), Wes Patton (Soph.), Bryce Hinegardner (Fr.).

Outlook: Bath graduated its entire singles lineup last season, so it will be interesting to see how the brand new lineup steps up in a competitive WBL. The doubles teams should be strong enough to pick up the team in close matches.

Bluffton

Coach: Jesse Sensening

Last Year’s Record: N/A

Division: III

Roster: Michael Deter (Sr.), Matt Deter (Sr.), Kyle Huber (Sr.), Aaron Basinger (Sr.), Nicholas Slinger (Sr.), Kory Enneking (Sr.), Nathan Diller (Sr.), Justin Paul (Sr.), Luke Headings (Jr.), Landon Clutz (Jr.), Timothy Huber (Soph.), Adam Basinger (Soph.), Aaron Shaw (Soph.), Roger Zeits (Soph.), Sahaj Vahora (Soph.), Alex Hord (Soph.).

Elida

Coach: Chris Kelley

Years, Record at School: First

Division: II

Last Year’s Record: 6-10, 3-6 WBL

Returning Letterwinners: Chris Ellison (Sr,. doubles), Bryan Romey (Sr., doubles), Ardie Sayoto (Sr., singles), Asa Swihart (Sr., doubles), Aric Thompson (Sr., singles), Jordan Greeley (Jr., singles), Kody Ley (Jr., singles).

Promising Newcomers: Ian Klaus (Fr., singles), Tony Savage (Fr., singles).

Outlook: Elida has a great deal of experience, something the rest of the WBL could be lacking. Time will tell if this will be enough of an edge to push the Bulldogs into the conference title mix following a disappointing 2012 season.

LCC

Coach: Kevin Bruin

Division: II

Returning Letterwinners: Alex Swick (Sr., singles), Dylan Niese (Jr., singles and doubles), Zach Schroeder (Jr., singles and doubles), Luke Buettner (Soph., doubles), Jacob Tabler (Soph., doubles), Thomas Huffman (Soph., doubles), Darrell Allman (Soph., doubles), Westin Young (Soph., doubles).

Promising Newcomers: Logan Korban (Fr,. doubles), Troy Hile (Fr., doubles), Bryce Halker (Fr., doubles), Jared Jackson (Fr., doubles), Kyle Muha (Jr., doubles).

Outlook: LCC’s team once again looks to be strong in the upcoming season. The three upperclassmen will make the singles lineup a difficult one to match. The rest of the team is young, and will be competing for starting spots in doubles play for a good part of the season.

Lima Senior

Coach: Loretta Clevenger

Years, Record at School: Third, N/A

Division: I

Returning Letterwinners: Dylan Goodman (Sr.), Alex Moore (Sr.), Conner Hall (Sr.), Aaron Snider (Sr.), Travis Tuttle (Soph.).

Promising Newcomers: Doug Sanders (Sr.), Brian Frueh (Jr.), Hollywood Terry (Soph.), Donovan Levan (Fr.), Jayden Weltmer (Fr.), Donte Gonzalez (Fr.), Markus Ly (Fr.), Malcolm Davis (Fr.), Robert Baker (Fr.).

Outlook: The returning seniors will be the team’s anchor, while some of the freshmen begin their adjustment to high school tennis.

Ottawa-Glandorf

Coach: Jay Laubenthal

Years, Record at School: First

Division: II

Last Year’s Record: 11-2, 8-1 WBL

Returning Letterwinners: Zach Bruskotter (Sr.), Brendon Drerup (Sr.), Alex Kuhlman (Sr.), Alex Schroeder (Jr.).

Promising Newcomers: Brandon Lehman (Sr.), Adam Lehman (Sr.), Jonah Vonderembse (Jr.), Trevor Kuhlman (Jr.), Brad Planz (Jr.), Jake Stechschulte (Sr.), Sammy Gable (Jr.).

Outlook: Ottawa-Glandorf will return four important starters from last season’s successful team, which will be very valuable as the Titans enter conference play. The key for O-G will be finding confident players to fill three starting spots as early in the season as they can.

Shawnee

Coach: Roy Gillespie

Years, Record at School: First

Division: II

Last Year’s Record: 14-2, 9-0 WBL

Returning Letterwinners: Jason Barton (Jr., singles), Josh Thomas (Sr., doubles), Avinash Rajasek (Jr., doubles), Scott Jettinghoff (Sr.), Carter Jones (Jr.), Timmy Rutter (Soph.).

Promising Newcomers: Ruthvic Avvari (Soph.), Prudvi Battula (Sr.).

Outlook: Losing four starters will hurt, but not enough to keep Shawnee out of the running for the WBL title. There is still enough talent on this team to keep it competitive throughout the season.

St. Marys

Coach: Brice Brenneman

Years, Record at School: NA, 332-209

Division: II

Last Year’s Record: 10-5, 6-3 WBL.

Returning Letterwinners: Cole Brooks (Sr., first singles), Jason Freewalt (Sr., second singles), Kevin Dammeyer (Sr., first doubles).

Promising Newcomers: Zac Nelson (Soph., first doubles), Justin Nedderman (Soph., second doubles), Nick Rohr (Fr., third singles).

Outlook: The Roughriders have three experienced players in Brooks, Freewalt and Dammeyer who will look to blend with plenty of younger players. Those younger players are completely new to the varsity level and getting them up to speed early is a top priority.

Van Wert

Coach: Mitch Price

Division: II

Last Year’s Record: N/A

Returning Letterwinners: Luke Stevens (Sr., doubles), Alex Bair (Sr., doubles), Jon Lisa (Sr., singles), Erik Yeung (Soph., singles).

No other information available.

Wapakoneta

Coach: Darrell Heintz

Years, Record at School: 27th, 209-258

Division: I

Last Year’s Record: 9-7, fourth in WBL

Returning Letterwinners: Zach Holtzapple (Sr., singles and doubles), Drew Wayman (Soph., singles and doubles).

Promising Newcomers: Ben Schroer (Fr., singles and doubles), Matt Ewing (Sr., doubles), Jordan Dodds (Soph., doubles), Joe Pitts (Soph., doubles).

Outlook: Wapakoneta lost five district qualifiers to graduation, so the coming season will likely be something of a rebuilding year. The Redskins have a good place to start too, with two good seniors leading the team that otherwise consists of all sophomores and freshmen.
