LIMA ‚?? Bath right fielder Jared Davis knew he had room. The rest was up to him.

Davis made a running over-the-shoulder grab just short of the warning track with the bases loaded to help Bath post a 9-5 victory over Patrick Henry in the Division III baseball district semifinals Thursday at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

Bath was leading 8-5 in the fourth, but Patrick Henry had the bases loaded with two outs. Lefty Eric Jordan was brought in from the pen to relieve starter Colin Gossard.

Jordan threw a 2-1 fastball to Gabe Jones, who launched a deep fly near the right-field fence, which is 330 feet from the plate.

‚??I was running and heard a fan say, ‚??You have room,‚??‚?Ě Davis said. ‚??It was about to my glove, then it started over my head. I looked up, reached over and caught it. It was ridiculous.‚?Ě

Bath coach Brian Jesko added, ‚??Jared Davis made about four outstanding plays in right field today and the play in right field was a huge play for us in the game.

Bath (16-12) will meet Lima Central Catholic (18-12) in the district title game at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at UNOH. Patrick Henry ends its season 18-8.

Bath took full advantage of Patrick Henry starter Logan Ziegler (5-1) not being able to find the plate. Ziegler, a breaking ball pitcher, couldn‚??t throw anything for strikes and lasted 1 2/3 innings, giving up five runs, one earned, on one hit. He walked six and hit three batters. Ziegler threw 60 pitches, only 22 for strikes.

Bath scored one in the first and four in the second to take a 5-1 lead.

In the second inning, Bath‚??s Doug Sanders walked with the bases loaded to take the lead to stay, 2-1. Jordan and Gossard both walked with the bags loaded and it was 4-1. When Cam Jenkins was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded, it was 5-1 and Ziegler was finally lifted.

‚??Our guys have been seeing the baseball pretty well the last couple of weeks and when he was struggling to find the strike zone, our guys were being patient at the plate,‚?Ě Jesko said. ‚??We were fortunate to get those runs in the first two innings because we certainly needed them.‚?Ě

Jordan‚??s RBI single in the fifth gave Bath a 9-5 lead. Jordan went 2 for 2 with three RBIs. Davis was 2 for 4.

Gossard started for Bath and went 3 2/3 innings giving up five runs, one earned, on six hits. He struck out five and walked three. Gossard threw 88 pitches, 48 for strikes.

Jordan picked up the win by tossing 3 1/3 innings of no-hit, shutout ball. He struck out two, walked none and hit a batter.

‚??Luckily Jared Davis made a great play,‚?Ě Jordan said of his 2-1 pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth. ‚??I got ahead in the last few innings and was able to go to the bullpen and work on it (my curve).‚?Ě

Jesko was impressed with Jordan‚??s outing.

‚??Eric came in and did what he‚??s done for us all year. He came in and threw strikes and got ahead of hitters,‚?Ě Jesko said.
