LIMA Chris McClain threw a complete game and the Bluffton offense roped 12 hits in a 6-3 victory Thursday that handed host Lima Central Catholic its first Northwest Conference loss.
Bluffton improves to 7-6 overall (3-2 NWC) while LCC is 12-7, 6-1.
McClain went seven innings, struck out four and walked three in getting the win, he also singled twice. Drake Luginbuhl homered and singled for the Pirates, Trent Phillips doubled and singled twice, Austin Bricker doubled and singled and Nate Risner doubled. Drew Jennings doubled and singled for LCC, Brad Stolly singled and doubled and Connor Dee doubled. Nick Watkins (3-3) took the loss, striking out five and walking two in five innings.
Crestview 15, Ada 1
CONVOY The Knights stayed unbeaten in the NWC, slamming Ada for the five-inning win. Nick Thomas (2-0) got the pitching win, striking out three and walking two, he also doubled, singled and had three RBIs for Crestview (10-3, 6-0). Isaiah Simerman homered for Crestview and Venice Roberts doubled. Aaron Gray took the pitching loss for Ada (2-10).
Paulding 2, Spencerville 1
PAULDING Quintin Vance smacked a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to give Paulding an NWC win at home. Kyle Kauser singled twice for Paulding (5-8, 3-3) and Javier Gonzales (2-2) got a win, striking out six and walking two. Sean Monfort doubled for Spencerville and Jonathon Shimp took the loss, striking out seven and walking two.
Miller City 1, Leipsic 0
MILLER CITY Ross Lehman dominated from the mound, throwing a no-hitter to beat Leipsic in a Putnam County League game. Lehman struck out 13 and walked four to help the Wildcats improve to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the PCL. Devin Mangas threw well for Leipsic (4-2 PCL). Mangas went six innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two, fanned two and gave up three hits.
Kalida 7, Cory-Rawson 5
RAWSON Randy Zeller picked up a pitching win to lead the Wildcats past the host Hornets in a non-league game. Kyle Vorst and Rob Kleman each doubled for Kalida (3-11).
Continental 9, Ottoville 6
CONTINENTAL Terry Dockery III doubled, singled twice, had three RBIs, scored twice and had two stolen bases for the Pirates in PCL action. Tyler Dockery singled twice, had three RBIs and scored a run for Continental and Austin Mansfield pitched 6 2/3 innings, striking out five and giving up four hits. Craig Odenweller singled twice, scored a run and had an RBI for Ottoville.
Fremont Ross 12, Lima Senior 1
LIMA Aaron Kellum struck out eight and walked three for Lima Senior in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference loss. Fremont Ross (10-10) had 11 hits and Lima Senior (1-8) had five.
New Knoxville 6, Delphos St. Johns 5
DELPHOS Delphos St. Johns Clay Courtney and New Knoxvilles Jake Allen each went 3-for-4 in the Midwest Athletic Conference battle. Tyler Shreve pitched a complete game for the win while Troy Warnecke took the loss.
Coldwater 5, Van Wert 1
COLDWATER Brandon Kunk pitched a complete game, giving up three hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out one. Kunk retired the final 13 batters and threw just 81 pitches in seven innings. Brody Hoying was 2-for-3, scoring twice, stealing three bases and finishing with two RBIs for Coldwater (15-3) while Grant Muhlenkamp doubled. Ryan Stoller got the loss for Van Wert (12-6).
St. Henry 4, Celina 0
ST. HENRY Mitchel Stammen pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout for St. Henry. Brian Kremer was 2-for-2 with a run scored for St. Henry. Cody Vogel pitched five innings, allowing four walks and four earned runs in the loss.
Paulding 7, Spencerville 4
PAULDING Emily Farr doubled and pitched a complete game for a victory in the NWC contest. Kelsey Beck had three singles for Paulding (4-7, 2-3). Tori Johnston had three singles for Spencerville and pitched six innings in the loss. Alex Shumate and Haleigh Mull each had two singles for the Bearcats.
Lincolnview 7, Allen East 3
LINCOLNVIEW Ashley McClure pushed her pitching record to 9-2 with the victory in the NWC game. Lincolnview (11-2, 4-1) pounded eight hits. Kaycee Rowe smacked a home run for Allen East (10-7, 2-4) while Tori Wyss had two RBIs.
LCC 5, Bluffton 1
LIMA Meredith Shepherd struck out six and walked two to help LCC grab an NWC win. Shepherd also homered for LCC (7-5, 5-2) while Sydney Santaguida, Meredith Niese and Casey Clark each doubled. Katie Palte doubled and singled for Bluffton (4-8, 2-4) while Sami Fruchey took the pitching loss.
Shawnee 9, Findlay 0
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP Kierstan Courtney pounded a home run while Hannah Taylor doubled and singled twice as Shawnee beat non-league Findlay at home. Britt Lauck doubled and singled for Shawnee (15-1) while Shelby Lucas and Abby Hall each had two singles. Kay Shick picked up the win, striking out seven and walking three.
Fremont Ross 19, Lima Senior 0
LIMA Ashley Daglio took the loss for Lima Senior, striking out two and walking 10. Lima Senior fell to 0-11 overall and 0-8 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
Columbus Grove 13, Delphos Jefferson 1
DELPHOS Groves batters bashed 11 hits and pitcher Bobbi Heckel allowed four hits to get the win. Monica Delgado went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple for Grove. Fallon Van Dyke went 2-for-3 for Jefferson.
Pandora-Gilboa 14, Miller City 4
PANDORA Megan Maag was the winning pitcher and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs for the Rockets in the PCL win. Daniel Basinger went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs for P-G. Ericka Meyer doubled, scored a run and had two RBIs while Kylee Ricker doubled, singled, had an RBI and scored a run for Miller City (3-7, 2-1).
Crestview 5, Ada 0
CONVOY Kirstin Hicks struck out five, walked three and gave up just one hit in the complete game shutout. Emily Bauer and Brooke Bowen each doubled for the Knights (11-7, 6-0 NWC). Bowen also singled. Alexis Amburgey took the loss for Ada.
Parkway 3, Minster 1
ROCKFORD Sierra Fent tied the school record for strikeouts with 16 to lift Parkway to the win. Fent (7-3) gave up just two hits and Kayla Walls was 3-for-3 and scored two runs for Parkway (10-4, 5-1). Minster is 4-2 in the MAC.
New Bremen 4, St. Henry 3
NEW BREMEN Caitlyn Everhart went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI as New Bremen moved to 8-8 overall (2-3 MAC). Rachel Parker doubled for New Bremen and Shelby Lefeld doubled for St. Henry (6-9, 1-5).
Van Wert 4, Ottawa-Glandorf 1
VAN WERT Van Wert won both doubles matches with Jon Lisa and Luke Stevens teaming for a win at No. 1 and Alex Bair and Eli Alveraz winning at No. 2. In singles, Lane Mansfield and Eric Yeung won for Van Wert. Brandon Hempfling won at third singles for O-G (10-2 overall, 5-1 WBL).
St. Marys 5, Bath 0
ST. MARYS Cole Brooks, Jason Freewalt and Nick Rohr each won singles matches as St. Marys improved to 8-6 overall (4-4 WBL). In doubles, Kevin Dammeyer and Zac Nelson won at No. 1 and Noah Hertsock and Morgan Fenwick won at No. 2.
Bluffton 5, Wapakoneta 0
BLUFFTON Matt Deter, Mike Deter and Aaron Basinger were each winners in singles action for Bluffton. In doubles, the teams of Kory Ennering-Luke Headings and Justin Paul-Nicholas Slinger each won for the Pirates.
Ottawa Hills 3, LCC 1
LIMA Alex Swick won at No. 1 singles, beating Matt Gargas 6-3, 6-3 for the lone LCC win. The T-Birds fall to 8-5 while Ottawa Hills is 10-1.
