ELIDA — Bluffton pitcher Sami Fruchey was strong at the plate and from the circle as the Pirates knocked off Kenton 11-3 in a Division III sectional final softball game at Elida on Wednesday. Bluffton will take on the Tinora/Archbold winner at 5 p.m. May 22 at Bath in the district semifinals.
Fruchey (7-12) struck out seven and walked one in getting the pitching win, she also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Adrian Rumer went 3-for-4 with a double for Bluffton (8-13) while Mackayla Wilson and Katie Palte each doubled and Taylor Monday tripled. Lauren Parkins was 2-for-4. Kenton finishes the season at 8-13.
Continental 11, Columbus Grove 0
MILLER CITY — Leva Weller turned in a huge performance and Continental rolled into the Division IV district semifinals. Continental will play Lincolnview at 5 p.m. May 22 at Elida in the district semis.
Weller went the distance for the five-inning pitching win, striking out four and allowing two hits in the shutout. She also crushed a home run, two singles and had six RBIs. Alex Quigley doubled and singled for Continental, Taylor Williamson singled twice, stole two bases and scored twice.
Parkway 12, Ottoville 1
LINCOLNVIEW — Kylie Snyder tossed a three-hitter, striking out 12, and Parkway slammed 15 hits for the Division IV sectional final win at Lincolnview. Parkway plays Patrick Henry at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Elida in the district semifinals. Sierra Fent had an inside-the-park home run for the Panthers, Terra Walls tripled and doubled, Kayla Walls tripled and Rachel King doubled.
Marion Local 9, New Bremen 7
ST. HENRY — Marion Local moved into the Division IV district semifinals by knocking off New Bremen. Marion Local takes on Perry at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Wapakoneta.
Ottawa-Glandorf 8, Liberty-Benton 1
PATRICK HENRY — Ottawa-Glandorf cruised past Liberty-Benton in the Division III sectional final at Patrick Henry. The Titans play either Coldwater or LCC in the district semifinal at 4:30 p.m. May 23 at UNOH.
Jaylen Von Sossan pitched a complete game for the Titans, striking out four while giving up five hits and no earned runs. He also doubled and singled for O-G. Jake Hashbarger was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a double, Tyler Zender was 3-for-4 with two runs scored an an RBI and Brad Croy was 2-for-4 with a run scored an an RBI.
Ottoville 2, Lincolnview 0
CRESTVIEW — Luke Schimmoeller pitched a gem to help the Big Green beat Lincolnview in a Division IV sectional final game at Crestview. Ottoville will play either St. Henry or Fort Recovery at 6:30 p.m. May 22 at Coldwater. Schimmoeller threw a two-hit shutout, striking out 12 and walking one for Ottoville. He also had two singles and two RBIs while Craig Odenweller had two hits (9-9). Eli Farmer took the loss for Lincolnview (8-13), allowing two runs and no walks with three strikeouts. Derek Friesner had a double.
Miller City 15, Leipsic 5
COLUMBUS GROVE — Miller City needed just five innings to get past Leipsic in the Division IV sectional final at Grove. Miller City will play Allen East at 2 p.m. May 22 in the district semifinals.
Ross Kaufman had three singles for the Wildcats, Jared Fuka had three singles, Brent Riepenhoff doubled and scored three runs, Adam Drummelsmith singled twice, Jeremy Balbaugh had three singles and three runs scored. Devin Mangas singled twice for Leipsic and Jason Niese doubled and scored twice.
Minster 4, Marion Local 0
MINSTER — Adam Niemeyer unleashed on Marion Local, throwing a no-hitter and striking out 18 batters while walking none in the Division IV sectional final at Minster. Minster will play either Crestview or Fort Jennings at 4:30 p.m. May 22 at Coldwater in the district semifinals.
