PERRY TOWNSHIP — Perry opened a baseball doubleheader Saturday against visiting Spencerville with a 7-6 victory when the Commodores scored a run in the bottom of the eighth. Perry followed that victory with an 8-2 win in the nightcap.



Quis Woods doubled in the opener while pitcher Alan Ogle got the win, striking out eight and walking six to move to 2-0 for Perry. Andrew Gipson was the winning pitcher in the second game, allowing five walks and striking out five. Gipson also doubled as did Corey Smith and Thad Gipson. Perry is 5-5.



Delphos Jefferson knocks off Leipsic



LEIPSIC — Delphos Jefferson swept Leipsic 14-3 and 12-0 in a pair of non-league games. Zach Ricker was the winning pitcher in the opener while Zavier Buzard homered, Drew Kortokrax doubled and Jordan Herron had three RBIs. Kortokrax doubled twice in the second game for Jefferson, Ross Thompson was the winning pitcher and had three RBIs and Ricker doubled.



LCC competes in Haestetter Classic



RICHMOND, Ind. — LCC defeated Richmond Seton Catholic 6-3 but lost to Richmond 9-5 in the two-day Inaugural Bob Haestetter Classic. The Classic was a two-day event at McBride Stadium, where seven teams from Indiana and Ohio competed.



Corey O’Dowd (2-1) got the pitching win for LCC while Sam Huffman and Colin Stolly each doubled. In the second game, Huffman (0-2) took the loss while Ben Stolly doubled. LCC is 6-5.



Bath, Napoleon split



BATH TOWNSHIP — Napoleon began the day with a 4-1 victory over host Bath. Caleb Norton struck out six and walked two but took the loss for Bath, he also tripled while Colin Gossard doubled. In the second game, Bath won 4-3 in eight innings when Napoleon committed a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded. Doug Sanders was 2-for-4 with a double and Eric Jordan was 2-for-4 for the Wildcats (8-5).



Celina 3-7, Findlay 6-6



CELINA — Celina and Findlay each claimed a victory in a non-league doubleheader. In the opener, Findlay won 6-3. Jimmy Luebke went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double while Aric Fickert got the loss for Celina. The Bulldogs came back to win the second game, 7-6, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Fickert turned in a huge effort at the plate with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Luebke took the win while Damon Smith was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Cody Vogel was 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Celina.



Wapakoneta 3, Sidney 1



SIDNEY — Brandon Miller pitched a four-hit, complete game to help Wapakoneta to the non-league win at Sidney. Johnny Crawford was 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases for the Redskins (7-4).



Marion Local sweeps Ansonia



ANSONIA — Marion Local knocked off host Ansonia 5-0 and 12-1. Conner Unrast and Ethan Nietfeld each were winning pitchers. Kyle Mescher doubled, stole a base and had three RBIs in the second game. In the opener, Mescher was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base, Aaron Nietfeld doubled and had two RBIs, Peyton Kramer doubled and Cole Griesdorn doubled and got the save.



Tennis



St. Marys 5, Kenton 0



KENTON — St. Marys improved to 5-4 overall with the win at Kenton. Cole Brooks, Jason Freewalt and Nick Rohr each won a singles match for the Roughriders. In doubles, Kevin Dammeyer and Zac Nelson won at No. 1 and Noah Hartsock-Justin Nedderman won at No. 2.



Softball



Allen East beats Hardin Northern



DOLA — Allen East took both ends of a doubleheader at Hardin Northern, 9-1 and 9-4. In the first game for Allen East, Alex Mertz was 2-for-4 with a double, Erin Conkle was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Kaycee Rowe struck out five and walked three for the pitching win. Aubren Davis got the save. Lea Rowe and Abby Bame both had a double and an RBI for Hardin Northern.



In the second game, Davis was the winning pitcher, striking out four and walking four. Conkle homered, singled and had four RBIs, Kylie Wyss tripled, Kennedy Rex doubled and Madison Schantz was 2-for-2 with a run scored. Rowe had two doubles for Hardin Northern, Molly Wilson had two doubles and Becky McElree had two singles, a run scored and two steals.
