Coldwater

COACH: Nick Fisher

YEARS, RECORD AT SCHOOL: NA, 101-124

LAST YEAR’S RECORD: 15-9, 5-4 MAC

DIVISION: III

RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (*Indicates returning starter): *Meg Muhlenkamp (Sr., 5-6), *Sarah Kanney (So., 5-7), *Brooke Welsch (So., 5-9)

PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Ali Dues (Jr., 5-10), Hannah Bruns (So., 5-10), Joelle Hemmelgarn (Jr., 5-8), Karla Borgerding (Jr., 5-6)

TEAM OUTLOOK: With three returning starters the Cavaliers have a solid base to build on. The size of Dues and Bruns will give Coldwater an inside presence in which they will hopefully give the defense a chance to pressure the ball and create more turnovers. Offensively, Coldwater will build around the guard play of Muhlenkamp and Kanney.

Delphos St. John’s

COACH: Dan J. Grothouse

YEARS, RECORD AT SCHOOL: 24th, 344-182

LAST YEAR’S RECORD: 14-7, 5-4 Midwest Athletic Conference

DIVISION: IV

RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (*Indicates returning starter): *Katie Vorst (Sr., 5-11), *Jessica Recker (Sr., 5-6), Madison Zuber (Sr., 5-8), Erica Saine (Jr., 5-9), Emilie Fischbach (Jr., 5-4)

PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Amanda Boberg (Jr., 5-7), Brooke Zuber (Jr., 5-6), Tara Vorst (So., 5-7), Rebekah Fischer (So., 5-8), Sydney Fischbach (Fr., 5-11)

TEAM OUTLOOK: The Blue Jays have a solid nucleus returning. In order to surpass last season’s success, they will have to come together quickly as a team and continue to work the inexperienced players into the mix. A challenging schedule that includes Bath’s Kewpee Tip-off classic, Western Buckeye League powers and the ever-competitive MAC will have the Blue Jays prepared by the time the tournament rolls around.

New Bremen

COACH: Chris Burden

YEARS, RECORD AT SCHOOL: 1st

LAST YEAR’S RECORD: 7-14, 1-8 MAC

DIVISION: IV

RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (*Indicates returning starter): *Haley Moeller (Sr., 5-8), *Kyla Otting (Sr., 5-6), *Hannah Holdren (Sr., 5-9), *Karli Jones (Jr., 5-7), Meagan Brandt (Sr., 5-4), Amber Paul (Sr., 5-8), Melissa Thieman (Jr., 5-10)

PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Samantha Luedeke (Sr., 5-4), Kim Brown (Jr., 5-10)

TEAM OUTLOOK: The experienced Cardinals are under first-year coach Chris Burden. The offense will be up and down the court. If the Cardinals have early success and can get some confidence they will be a force in the MAC. “We will be experienced with seven returning letterwinners, but we have a ways to go to get where we want to be,” Burden said. “We need to work on ways to score.”

New Knoxville

COACH: Tim Hegemeier

YEARS, RECORD AT SCHOOL: 7th, 108-54

LAST YEAR’S RECORD: 21-4, 7-2 MAC

DIVISION: IV

RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (*Indicates returning starter): *Haley Horstman (Jr., 5-7), *Paige Lehman (Jr., 5-10), *Meg Reineke (So., 5-10), Kalyn Schroer (So., 5-3)

PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Madison Lammers (Fr., 5-9), Rachel Leffel (Fr., 5-10)

TEAM OUTLOOK: No seniors dot the roster of the team that made it to the regional semifinals last season. Lehman and Horstman each return after averaging double digit points last season. If the newcomers can make the quick jump from junior high basketball to varsity the Rangers could once again compete in the state tournament.

Parkway

COACH: Lynn Hughes

YEARS, RECORD AT SCHOOL: 1st

LAST YEAR’S RECORD: 8-13, 0-9

DIVISION: III

RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (*Indicates returning starter): *Cami Hellwarth (Sr., 5-11), Sierra Fent (Jr., 6-0), Kylie Snyder (Sr., 5-9)

PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Raegen Branstetter (Jr.), Kayla Walls (So.), Ashlynn Henderson (Jr.), Kati Schumm (Sr.), Kaylie Jutte (Sr.), Alicia Sammaniego (Sr.)

TEAM OUTLOOK: According to first year coach Lynn Hughes, “we must be able to defend, rebound, and take care of the basketball in order to be successful. Our players have worked hard in the offseason.” The Panthers have size and experience. After finishing winless in the MAC last season, they only have one direction in which to go.

St. Henry

COACH: Kurt Huelsman

YEARS, RECORD AT SCHOOL: 1st

LAST YEAR’S RECORD: 8-13, 2-7 MAC

DIVISION: IV

RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (*Indicates returning starter): *Taylor Clune (Sr., 5-10), *Ally Mikesell (Jr., 5-8), Kelly Siefring (Sr., 5-6), Kami Siefring (Sr., 5-6)

PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Taylor Koesters (Jr., 5-7), Paige Muhlenkamp (Jr., 5-4)

TEAM OUTLOOK: The returning seniors averaged 18 points per game last season for the Redskins, which give them a solid foundation on which to build. Those three provide leadership on and off the court. If St. Henry can handle the pressure and limit its turnovers it will be able to climb up the MAC ladder.
