Shawnee, St. Marys win tennis openers

Shawnee opened its girls tennis season with a 5-0 win over Bluffton on Wednesday.

The Indians won all five matches in straight sets and lost only six games along the way. Bluffton dropped to 0-1 for the season.

The Roughriders opened their season with a non-league win over Sidney at Sidney.

Morgan VanMeter’s 38 led Shawnee at Pleasant Valley Golf Course. Rebekah Rader shot a 42 and Raven Venegas had a 43.

Fort Recovery 191

Mississinawa Valley’s Ryan Rehmert was the medalist with a 39.

Connor Bornhorst led Botkins with a 41 and Kent Retz’s 43 was the low round by a Fort Recovery golfer.

Austin Lammers’ 40 was the low round for Miller City and Jared Fuka had a 42. Lammers was match medalist.
