ELIDA — Finally, the day was here.
LIMA — Mike Fell has a long history with Lima Senior football, but it took just a short time for him to become the Spartans coach once he decided to pursue the job.
Several years and two or three Lima Senior football coaches ago, I called a coach who had turned more than one not-very-good high school football program into a big winner and asked him what the key components of building a winning program are.
ELIDA — Bath won the tournament, got the trophy and had every reason to celebrate after a 67-65 double-overtime win over Elida gave the Wildcats their second ever Tip-Off Classic championship on Saturday night.
MASSILLON — Finally.
MASSILLON — Marion Local coach Tim Goodwin had a hard time getting a good preseason read on his Flyers.
Coldwater quarterback Austin Bruns and Coldwater linebacker Zach Dickman head the list of first team all-state players on the Division V all-state football teams that were announced on Wednesday.

Elida linebacker Quentin Poling and four players from Ottawa-Glandorf were selected first team All-Ohio on the Division III-IV football teams released by the Associated Press on Tuesday.

WAPAKONETA — The state championship game will have trouble topping this.
While many were enjoying turkey and watching football on television, Coldwater (13-0) and Liberty-Benton Eagles (12-1) were preparing for a football game.
OTTAWA — In 17 seasons as the Ottawa-Glandorf head football coach, Ken Schriner’s teams have won 127 games and lost only 65, advancing to the playoffs eight consecutive years.

WAPAKONETA — When defending Division VI state champion Marion Local grabbed a 28-7 lead early in the fourth quarter, it looked like they would cruise to victory at Harmon Field in Wapakoneta.
OTTAWA– Ottawa-Glandorf’s Tristan Parker looks like a natural.
Ottawa-Glandorf football coach Ken Schriner has never been to Piqua Alexander Stadium-Purk Field. The Titans have never been 12-0 either.
WAPAKONETA — The ball flew up like toast out of the toaster and was bouncing across the heart of the end zone.
FINDLAY — There are running attacks, then there is Ottawa-Glandorf.
LIMA — Ada desperately wanted the ball back while St. Henry wanted to play keep away and end the game.
BOWLING GREEN — There’s an old cliché, that a team shouldn’t stop doing what has made it successful.
PIQUA — They should have played in the regular season.

WAPAKONETA — Stunning.
LIMA — Lima Central Catholic was able to overcome five turnovers with plenty of big plays as the T-Birds turned back Collins Western Reserve 42-14 in Division V playoff action Saturday night at Lima Stadium.
SANDUSKY — Elida was in for a tough night against slippery Bellevue quarterback Jalen Santoro.
FINDLAY — Take a quick, athletic Ottawa-Glandorf offense and put it on the turf.
LEIPSIC — One more play.
LIMA — It was exactly what Ada coach Mike Fell was looking for Friday night at Lima Stadium in opening action in the Division VI playoffs as the Bulldogs faced Waynesfield-Goshen.
MARIA STEIN — Marion Local opened the Division VI football playoffs with a 53-27 win over Bradford on Friday at Marion Local. Marion Local improves to 9-2.
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Dick West said it’s time for a change.
A year ago, Delphos St. John’s and Leipsic collided in a Division VI regional final football game at Findlay that turned into a barn-burner.

ADA — Ryan Pitts snuck up on Micah Roberson like a stealth bomber.
DELPHOS — After slugging it out like two heavyweight boxers for the first 47 minutes of the game, it came down to an onside kick and Spencerville recovered it and held on for a 20-18 win over Delphos Jefferson on Friday night at Stadium Park.
OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf capped off its first perfect regular season with a 34-12 win over visiting Van Wert on Friday. The Titans, who won the Western Buckeye League crown outright last week, are 10-0 overall and 9-0 heading into next weekend’s postseason. Van Wert finishes the season 1-9, 1-8. The Titans have clinched a home playoff game for next Friday but will not know their opponent until the pairings are released on Sunday.
LIMA — The Lima Senior football team has gone through its share of growing pains.
ADA — It all comes down to this.
Elida (7-2, 6-2 Western Buckeye League) at Defiance (4-5, 4-4 WBL)
I’m feeling soggy just thinking about football Friday night.
Well here we are. Week 10.
ELIDA — The possibility of an offensive explosion was certainly there in Friday’s Western Buckeye League showdown between Elida and Celina.
LIMA – Fans can officially begin the talk about Lima Central Catholic and Ada in Week 10 being for all the marbles in the Northwest Conference.
BATH TOWNSHIP — When Ottawa-Glandorf wanted to run left, it ran left.
DELPHOS — Tyler Jettinghoff ran for 103 yards on 17 carries with touchdown runs of 1 and 5 yards to help Delphos St. John’s beat New Bremen 34-3 in a Midwest Athletic Conference game Friday.
ELIDA — Elida freshman Logan Alexander is growing up in a hurry.
