BATH

Key players: Crystal Devita, Heather Lawrence, Katie McCafferty and Emily Jordan.

Promising newcomers: Carrie Ellington, Sammy Plumb and Muriel Smith.

Season outlook: With just four letterwinners returning, Bath will be rebuilding in 2008.

BLUFFTON

Coach: Peter Diller

Returning letterwinners: 5

Key players: Kelsea Kiene, Trisha Bellman, Jessica Hunter, Jessica Liska and Liz Diller.

Promising newcomers: Ashlin Gable

Season outlook: Bluffton returns five letterwinners, including junior Kelsea Kiene who was first singles last year. The Pirates are relatively young, however, and are hoping to improve as the season progresses.

CELINA

Coach: Jan Morrison

Years, record at school: Sixth year, 82-22

2007 record: 19-1

Returning letterwinners: 5

Key players: Kinzie Gardner, Sara Dorsten, Amber Jaeger, Rachel Smith and Shelby Decker.

Promising newcomers: Abbey Feltz, Katie Pyle, Christine Prenger, Emily Langenkamp and Sharee Werling.

Season outlook: After winning the WBL in 2007, the Bulldogs are hoping to compete for the crown once again.

DEFIANCE

Coach: Tim Call and Doug Reineke (co-head coaches)

Returning letterwinners: 7

Key players: Renae VanBrackel, Jenna Thomas, Aspen Ferland, Kaitlin Soukup, Adrew Hardy and Laura Katterheinrich.

Promising newcomers: Brittany Rodriguez

Season outlook: With a great deal of experience returning, Defiance has high hopes of a successful season in 2008.

ELIDA

Coach: Denny Schwinnen

Years, record at school: 12th year, 101-90

2007 record:  16-2

Returning letterwinners: 4

Key players: Jessie Adkins, Amy Sarno, Jessica Stambaugh and Amanda Brickner.

Promising newcomers: Emily Fernandez, Caitie Kales, India Bowsher, Kassidee Fletcher, Jessica Foust, Ashley Miller, Monica Tieu, Robin Klaus and Sofia Heitfeld.

Season outlook: Elida returns four veterans. They will still need some time to find the right combination on the court.

 

LIMA CENTRAL CATHOLIC

Coach: Kevin Bruin

2007 record: 9-7

Returning letterwinners: 8

Key players: Tory Chamberlain, Ashley Swick, Karrie Lester, Daniela Pierre, Allie Rector, Alexis Sheets, Ashley Goodridge and Lauren Winkler.

Promising newcomers: Ashley Mooney, Nicole Cross, Taylor Nocera, Brittaney Soria, Ally Allman, Janina Bradshaw and Lauren McNamara.

Season outlook: With eight letterwinners returning, including district doubles qualifiers Ashley Swick and Tory Chamberlain, the Thunderbirds should be strong from top to bottom this fall.

LIMA SENIOR

Coach: Deborah J. Williams

2007 record: N/A

Returning letterwinners: 9

Key players: Breanna Garrett, Kelsey Conaway and B. Johnson.

Promising newcomers: Lenzey Long, Lindsey Beggin, Naraela Lyles, Kaletra Beavis, Emily Stepleton and Amy Reed.

Season outlook: The Spartans look to be competitive in the Greater Buckeye Conference this season. They return 9 letter winners from a team that finished

OTTAWA-GLANDORF

Coach: Ken Pollitz

Years, record at school: Third year, 10-20

2007 record: 5-9

Returning letterwinners: 5

Key players: Michelle Wischmeyer, Megan Schroeder, Megan Lanwehr, Katelyn Utendorf and Stacy Kahle.

Promising newcomers: Kari Leatherman, Mandi Utendorf, Katie Kaufman, Mary Wischmeyer and Rhonda Karhoff.

Season outlook: The Titans are hoping to improve on their seventh place finish in 2007.

SHAWNEE

Coach: Jim Curran

Years, record at school: Second year, 14-2

2007 record: 14-2

Returning letterwinners: 3

Key players: Vidhi Madan, Lizzy Mart, Ravali Parsa

Promising newcomers: Amanda Lawson, Solnmya, Melinda Mat'e, Grace Baird and Lauren Rovner.

Season outlook: 2008 is a rebuilding year for the Indians. Coach Curran is hoping his team shows continual improvement throughout the season.

WAPAKONETA

Coach: Mike Klock

Years, record at school: Fourth year, 15-31

2007 record: 7-9

Returning letterwinners: 6

Promising newcomers: Olivia Nelson, Makenzie Klock, Marian Hensley, Kara Wellons, Allison Stiger, Brittany Valentine and Elizabeth Hutchinson.

Key players: Heather Wells, Emily Runkle, Emily Slonecker, Ricki Den, Ashley Beach and Kylee Wellons.

Season outlook: The Redskins are hoping to finish in the top half of the very competitive Western Buckeye League.

ST. MARYS

Coach: Brice Brenneman

Years, record at school: 14th year, 141-86

2007 record: 12-5

Returning letterwinners: 6

Key players: Megan Dominik, Kelly Fritz, Amy Ellis, Lydia Krugh, Mallorie Sullivan and Amanda Ruyard.

Promising newcomers: Mariah Krugh and Jenna Eberle.
