Limaland set for Steve Brown Memorial
Comments 0 | Recommend 0
ALLENTOWN - Steve Brown never got to become a race car driver. His life was tragically cut short before he could take his laps. It doesn't mean his love of the sport was any less, though.
When the ninth annual Steve Brown Memorial gets under way tonight at Limaland Motorsports Park for the Bud Thunderstocks, it will be a special night for many at the track.
Tony Anderson, who won last year for his third Brown Memorial win in five years, and Jeff Babcock, who won the first race, are the only multiple winners of the event.
Joining in the fun will be the Ladies Thunderstock Shootout. Shar Siferd won the first race April 25.
The Professional Computer Company UMP Modifieds and Elwer Fence Sprints also take to the quarter-mile.
Pit gate opens at 4 p.m. and grandstands at 5 p.m. Hot laps get started at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
Waynesfield Motor Sports Park
For the second week in a row, the 410 non-wing sprints rule the 1/3 mile track at Waynesfield. Last week, Mike Miller took the checkered flag.
The UMP Modifieds, 600-cc mini-sprints and trucks round out the schedule.
Gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps start at 6 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
Eldora Speedway
Don't show up at Eldora on its usually held Saturday night for half-mile racing. You'll be a day too late. The World of Outlaws Late Models hold the Subway 50 at Eldora on Friday. Track owner and NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Tony Stewart will race in the 50.
Hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m.
Racing hasn't been held at Eldora since July 12th and the Kings Royal.
