Lima Post 96 one win from state tourney

SIDNEY — Lima Legion Post 96 will take on Sidney today in a winner-take-all district championship baseball game at 1 p.m. today in Sidney. The winner advances to the state tournament in Lancaster beginning July 25.

Lima split with Sidney on Saturday, 11-1 and 7-6 to set up today’s game.

In the opening win, John Simindinger pitched 5 innings for the win while Jared Dupes got the save. Keaton Sullivan was 4-for-4 with a home run and 2 doubles while Mackenzie Hampshire homered and singled. Simindinger doubled and had 3 RBIs while Mike Snider was 3-for-3 with a double.

In the second game, Lima’s Dominic Crea, Sullivan and Simindinger each had 2 hits while Hampshire had a homer, a single and 3 RBIs.
