The Lima Area Womenâ??s Match Play golf tournament is scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday at four area golf courses.
The match play championship round is scheduled Sunday at Colonial Golfers Club.
A one-day medal play qualifier is scheduled on the first day of the tournament at Hawthorne Hills on Wednesday to determine the championship flight.
The low 16 scorers in that round will advance to medal play at Tamarac Golf Club on Thursday and the rest of the field will play a second day of stroke play, also at Tamarac, for seeding in the other flights.
The tournament will continue on Friday at Hidden Creek Golf Club. The semifinals will be Saturday at Colonial Golfers Club.
Golfers who sign up for all tournament flights will be placed based on their qualifying score. Participants who declare championship flight/first flight only will need to be in the 16 low qualifiers or they will be eliminated from the tournament. Anyone who declares that they want to play in the senior flight will have the option to play in another flight or withdraw if there are fewer than eight senior flight players.
Kate Hoops was lastâ??s year champion when she defeated Sarah Vonderembse 1-up in the title match. Christy Brinkman won the first flight. Carol Jackson was the second flight champion, Charlotte Schaub won the third flight and Kelli Marsh was the fourth flight champion.
Entry fee is $60. Anyone who brings along a first-time entrant will have their fee reduced by $10. Entry deadline is Monday. Make checks payable to Lima Womenâ??s Golf Association. Mail to: Shawnee Country Club, 1700 Shawnee Road, Lima, Ohio 45805.
