BATH TOWNSHIP — Ottawa-Glandorf withstood a sluggish first half and came back to slip past Bath 67-55 in Western Buckeye League action on Friday night. The Titans (11-4, 4-2 WBL) shot 32 percent from the field and were outrebounded 20-15 in the first half as they went into the locker room with a 25-24 lead.Ottawa-Glandorf coach Josh Leslie’s halftime speech must have worked as his team came out and outscored Bath 42-31 in the second half to pull away for the victory.“It’s been that way all year,” Leslie said. “I don’t know what it is, but we come out and just kind of go through the motions at the start of the game. Then we finally get things going after awhile.“We play such a brutal non-league schedule (Saturday nights), Archbold, Lima Senior, teams like that. And we come ready to play (on Saturday).”Justin Schomaeker led O-G with 21 points. Colton Everett, a 6-foot-4 forward, poured in 16 points on 8 of 9 shooting from the floor. Everett also pulled down five rebounds. Luke Bellman added 10 points for O-G.Dre White, a 5-9 sophomore, led Bath (6-9, 2-4 WBL) with 20 points and six rebounds. Chase Foster added nine points, all 3-pointers.Bath coach Doug Davis said his team did what it needed to do in the first half. However, in the second half, Davis said O-G’s inside dominance took the game over. O-G won the battle on the boards in the second half, 18-6.“They dominated in the end,” Davis said. “They got a lot of putbacks and that’s tough to do against a zone.”Davis applauded White’s effort against O-G’s tenacious full-court pressure.“He’s been playing this way for the past three or four games,” Davis said. “He had quite a game tonight.”Leslie pointed to White’s performance as a factor in the game as well.“We turned him one too many times,” Leslie said. “We would get him turned (defensively) and he would slip through there.” You can comment on this story at www.limaohio.com.
