VAN WERT — Van Wert’s Andrew Todd tossed a five-inning perfect game in an 11-0 non-league, regular-season 11-0 baseball victory over Paulding Tuesday at Van Wert.

Todd struck out eight and walked none.

Todd and Justice Tussing both went 2 for 2 for the Cougars.

Van Wert scored four in the third and added seven more in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead.

Van Wert is 13-12. Paulding is 5-13.

Baseball sectionals

Division II at Elida

Wapakoneta 8, St. Marys 4

ELIDA — Wapakoneta led 3-1 after the first inning and went on to a sectional championship victory over St. Marys at Ed Sandy Field.

Left-hander Johnny Crawford (5-2) picked up the win for the Redskins. He struck out four and walked four.

Austin James took the loss.

Wapakoneta's Alex Koch had two doubles, while Crawford had one.

Wapakoneta (16-5) returns to the district tournament to meet the Bellevue/Clear Fork winner at 2 p.m. May 23 at Bluffton University. St. Marys is 4-13.

Division IV at Columbus Grove

Kalida 9, Columbus Grove 3

COLUMBUS GROVE — Kalida stunned Columbus Grove with a victory over the Bulldogs in the Division IV sectional finals at Columbus Grove.

Kalida advances to the district tournament to meet the Delphos St. John’s/Waynesfield-Goshen winner at 5 p.m. May 22 at Elida.

Regular-season baseball

Coldwater 19, Delphos St. John’s 5

DELPHOS — Coldwater clinched at least a share of the Midwest Athletic Conference title with a victory over Delphos St. John’s.

The Cavs are 22-4 and 8-1 in the MAC. It marks the 27th MAC baseball title for the Cavaliers.

Coldwater’s Matt Selhorst led the 20-hit attack going 5 for 5 with five RBIs. Drew Otten was 3 for 4 with a double, triple and three RBIs.

Greg Gilliland (5-0) picked up the win.

St. Henry 12, New Knoxville 2

ST. HENRY -- St. Henry scored five in the first in a win over New Knoxville.

Jason Jacobs picked up the win.

For St. Henry, Devin Froning went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Derek Rindler went 2 for 2 with a double and was hit by two pitches.

For the Rangers, Shane Topp went 2 for 2 with a double.

St. Henry is 21-5, 7-2 in the MAC. New Knoxville is 7-12, 1-7 in the MAC.

Defiance 10, Archbold 0

DEFIANCE -- Defiance's Derek Turner tossed a three-hitter in a non-league win over Archbold.

Turner (5-0) struck five and walked five.

Defiance is 24-1. Arcbhold is 19-5.

Defiance's Robert Zeigler went 2 for 3.

Elida 10, Lima Central Catholic 6

LIMA -- Elida jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two innings and went on to knock off LCC in a non-league game.

Max Stambaugh earned the win. He struck out four and walked one. Sam Huffman took the loss.

LCC is 15-12.

Jesse Wheeler had two hits for Elida.

Softball sectionals

Division IV at Lincolnview

Lincolnview 1, Crestview 0

MIDDLE POINT — Lincolnview’s Ashley McClure fired a three-hit shutout over Crestview to knock the Knights out of the tournament in the Division IV sectional finals at Lincolnview. It marks one of the Knights’ earliest tourney exits ever.

The Lancers scored the game’s only run on an RBI single by Jodie Doner, which scored Courtney Gorman in the top of the fifth inning.

McClure lifted her record to 14-3.

The Lancers advance to the district tournament to meet the Continental/Columbus Grove winner at 5 p.m. May 22 at Elida.

Division IV at Upper Scioto Valley

Perry 15, Ridgemont 3

MCGUFFEY — Perry’s Abby Patton went 3 for 4 with a triple to power the Commodores to a victory Ridgemont to win the Division IV sectional championship at USV.

Patton (13-7) also picked up the win. She gave up three runs on four hits. She struck out eight.

At the plate, Patton had three hits with a double. Courtney Trent had three singles. Haley King and Lexie Turman both went 2 for 4 for Perry. Courtland Fowler was 2 for 2 with a triple.

Perry advances to the district semifinals to meet the New Bremen/Marion Local winner at 5 p.m. next Tuesday at Wapakoneta.

Division IV at Miller City

Patrick Henry 8, Kalida 0

MILLER CITY — Patrick Henry’s Katie Kurtz held Kalida to five hits in a Division IV sectional title victory over Kalida at Miller City.

Emily Schnipke took the loss, giving up eight runs, both only two earned.

Kurtz struck out six for the win. Patrick Henry’s Katy Hammer went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Patrick Henry (14-8) will meet the Ottoville/Parkway winner in the district semifinals at 5 p.m. next Tuesday at Elida.

Kalida is 7-10.

Regular-season softball

Elida 11, Coldwater 0

ELIDA -- Elida senior Aryanna Brown fired a no-hitter in a non-league win over Coldwater.

Brown (5-6) struck out five and walked none. Elida had one error, which kept it from being a perfect game.

Elida is 11-10.

Elida's Skylar Hurst had two doubles. Brett Pauff had two hits.

Oregon Clay 22, Lima Senior 0

LIMA — Oregon Clay held Lima Senior to one hit in a romp over the Spartans.

Clay had 22 runs on 14 hits.

Clay is 21-2 and 13-1 in the TRAC. Lima Senior is 0-18, 0-14 in the TRAC.

Bluffton 6, Cory-Rawson 4

RAWSON — Bluffton’s Cheyenne Treen had a two-run double in the top of the eighth inning to break up a 4-4 tie and lift the Pirates to a non-league win over Cory-Rawson.

Bluffton’s Lauren Parkins went 2 for. Adrian Rumer and Katie Palte were both 2 for 4.

Sami Fruchey earned the win. She struck out four and walked one.

Bluffton is 7-13.

Wapakoneta 18, Fort Recovery 0

WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta scored eight runs in the fourth to pull away with a non-league win over Fort Recovery.

The Redskins had 18 runs on 19 hits. Fort Recovery was held to two hits.

Hardin Northern 5, Leipsic 1

DOLA -- Hardin Northern posted a 5-1 win over Leipsic.

Hardin Northern's Leah Rowe had two hits with a double. Brianna Campbell had two hits and two steals. Becky McElree had four steals.

Addy Bame (11-7) tossed a three-hit complete game. She struck out 10.

Hardin Northern is 14-9, 4-4 in the BVC.

Boys tennis

Findlay 5, Lima Central Catholic 0

FINDLAY -- Findlay notched a shutout win over Lima Central Catholic at Findlay.

At No. 1 singles, Findlay's Reid Teatsorth defeated LCC's Alex Swick, 6-3, 6-2.

Findlay is 16-2. LCC is 11-6.
