Marion Local beats Anna in playoff showdown
ANNA - Marion Local avenged last week's regular season loss to Anna by beating the host Rockets 13-3 in a Division V regional quarterfinal football game Saturday.
The Flyers (9-2) will take on the winner of the Lees Creek East Clinton/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy game on Saturday.
Anna started the scoring with Zach Clark's 30-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter. But Marion Local scored twice in the second half and didn't allow Anna to cross the 50-yard line in the half.
The Flyers got on the scoreboard when Kerry Roberts scored on a 1-yard fumble recovery after teammate Tyler Mesher intercepted a pass but fumbled before scoring in the third quarter. Quarterback Tyler Prenger iced the game with a 13-yard touchdown scramble with 2:44 remaining.
Ben Smith led Marion Local with 117 rushing yards on 27 carries. Mesher had two interceptions for Marion Local.
