Prep roundup: Tigers make strong showing at NWCC tournament
LCC tennis squeaks out win
HARROD - Brad Smith carded an 82 to help lead the Waynesfield boys golf team to a second-place finish Wednesday at the Northwest Central Conference tournament at Colonial Golfers Club.
The Tigers totaled a 342. Fairbanks won the title with a 319, behind medalist Eli Morris' 74.
Also for Waynesfield, Sheldon Shobe had an 85 and Dalton Buffenbarger an 88.
Upper Scioto Valley finished third with a 354. Wes Krummrey had an 83 and Bradley Pickford an 86.
Perry (449) was sixth. Brey Buetner led the way with a 90.
WAPAKONETA 169, BATH 200: Phil Gabel shot a 41 and Landen Stahler added a 42 to lead Wapakoneta to the Western Buckeye League match win. The Redskins are 6-3.
Bath's Matt Holt was the medalist with a 39.
ARCADIA WINS BVC TITLE: Patrick Coward had a 76 and Julian Pina added a 77 to lead Arcadia to the Blanchard Valley Conference title at Country Acres Golf Club.
Nathan Maag led Leipsic with a 90, and Craig Meyer and Stuart Inkrott each added 96s. The Vikings finished fifth.
Cory-Rawson finished seventh.
DELPHOS ST. JOHN'S 157, BLUFFTON 168: Brad Wannemacher turned in a 1-over par 37 to claim medalist honors for St. John's. The Blue Jays improved to 9-3.
Ryan Fisher added a 39 for the Jays.
Christian Koch shot a 39 for the Pirates.
COLUMBUS GROVE 176, FORT JENNINGS 212: Nate King was the medalist with a 42 and helped Grove to the Putnam County League win. Clay Bryan added a 43.
Low man for the Musketeers was Tyler Dray (50).
Girls Tennis
LIMA CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, BATH 2: LCC swept the doubles matches, and won at first singles, to take the non-league win. Ashley Swick's 7-5, 6-1 win collared the first singles win.
The T-Birds are 7-5.
Tory Chamberlain and Allie Rector won at first doubles, and Ashley Mooney and Alexis Sheets won at second. All four are seniors.
Heather Lawrence won at second singles for Bath (4-10) while Crystal DeVita won at third.
Girls golf
ST. HENRY 196, MINSTER 208: St. Henry stayed perfect in the Midwest Athletic Conference at 6-0, and improved to 16-1 overall. Shelly Post was the medalist with a 47, and Taylor Rindler and Shelby Link added 48s.
Volleyball
PANDORA-GILBOA 3, VANLUE 0: Pandora-Gilboa improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Blanchard Valley Conference with the win. Kaitlin Siefer had 12 assists and three aces.
Girls Soccer
DELPHOS JEFFERSON 9, ADA 1: Megan Moreo had four goals and Elizabeth Schosker added three more to lead Jefferson.
ELIDA 3, RIVERDALE 1: Shelby Troyer registered a hat trick for Elida. Erin Thomas and Beth Boyle had assists.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-3.
