Locos rally to win 5th straight


GALION — The Lima Locos rallied in the eighth inning to knock off Galion 6-5 Wednesday at Galion.

The Locos, who have won five in a row, are 12-5. Galion is 4-13.

The Locos are 3-0 against Galion on the season.

The Locos are scheduled to play on the turf of Grand Lake’s Montgomery Field at 7 p.m. tonight. The Locos return home at 7 p.m. Friday against Grand Lake at Simmons Field.

The Locos scored three runs in the top eighth to take a 6-4 lead. Galion scored one in the home eighth to get within 6-5.

For the Locos, Mitch Carriger (Maryville) went 3 for 5 with a home run and one RBI. Will Kilgore (Georgia State) was 3 for 5. Hunter Williams (Tulane) went 1 for 3 with two RBI. Henry Rowling (Georgia) went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Nate Romans (Ohio State) was 1 for 1 with an RBI.

Will Solomon (Georgia Gwinnette) started for Lima and went five innings, giving up two runs, both earned, on five hits. Ryan Ruggles (Alabama-Birmingham) picked up the win with two innings of relief. He gave up two runs, both unearned, on two hits.

Mitchell White (Santa Clara) threw the final two innings for his second save, giving up one unearned run on one hit. He struck out five.
