Allen County Archers
The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, have monthly shoots planned. A traditional shoot is held the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two day shooting events will be held the first Saturday and Sunday of every month through September. The Best of the Best Basketball Fall League will run from Sept. 10 to Oct. 15 with fourth grade through high school divisions. The Grand Lake Basketball Officials Association is sponsoring a class for anyone interested in becoming an Ohio High School Athletic Association licensed basketball official. The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for non members (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net.
The annual Delphos Canal Days 5K run/walk will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 17. The race will begin at the intersection of Main Street and Second Street with a new course down Canal Street. Race forms are available at Delphoscanaldays.com or on-line registration at Run Sign Up using search word Delphos. Cost is $25 with shirt if pre-registered by Sept 4 or $20 with no shirt. Race day registration available for $25 with no shirt guarantee. Awards to top runners in each age bracket. This is also the third and final race of the Delphos Running Series. There will be an event for canned beef Friday, Sept. 1, at the Continental Conservation Club located a quarter mile north and east of Continental on Road E. Practice and still target shooting start at 3:30 p.m. with the main event at 6 p.m.
The 16U Buckeye Blaze will be holding tryouts Sept. 23 at Lima Senior Girls Softball diamond for the 2018 travel team. Times for both dates are 10 a.m. to noon. If you feel you are one of the best players in this area then you need to be at one of these dates. The primary focal point is a strong pitching rotation. Registration is underway for the Bluffton Family Recreation Indoor Soccer League. Session I is Nov. 5 to Dec. 9 and the team fee is $460. Deadline is Oct. 20. A holiday tournament will be Dec. 10-16 with a deadline of Nov. 26. Session II will run from Jan. 7 to Feb. 10. The team fee is $460 and the deadline is Dec. 22. Session III runs from Feb. 11 to March 25. The five week league plus tournament team fee is $475 and the deadline is Feb. 2. Session IV begins April 8 - 29 and the four week league for adult division team fees are $360 and the deadline is March 23.
