LIMA — The Wapakoneta boys and St. Marys girls secured Western Buckeye League overall and tournament bowling crowns Wednesday at 20th Century Lanes.
Brandon Kennard rolled games of 246, 234 and 244 for a 724 series to pace Wapak.
Kennard teammates Tyler Miller and Trentin Cooper shot 668 and 664 respectively.
Wapak was chased to the tournament title by St. Marys. Gunner Kruse (686) and Logan Dircksen (683) led the Roughriders along with Austin Cook (658).
Cook claimed league bowler of the year honors. Jeff Giese (679) and Nate Stratton (648) led Shawnee to second place overall.
Defiance’s Alex Coble, who had a 298 game earlier in the season, rolled games of 255, 248 and 276 for a 779 set.
The St. Marys girls romped to a 100-plus pin victory against Wapak. Shawnee finished third in the tourney and was second overall.
St. Marys’ Jami Dunlap took medalist honors with a 596. Teammate Brittany Freytag tallied a 551.
Bath’s Bryana Twining battled through flu like symptoms for a 561, helping her secure bowler of the year honors.
Joining Twining on the first team was Jordyn Stewart of Elida, Britni and Carlee Hosterman of Wapak, Alicia Herman of Defiance and Dayle Aldrich of Shawnee.
Cook paced a very strong men’s team dominated by Wapak. Coble was a member of the team as well as Kennard, Miller, Cooper and Blake Knueve.
Drew Ambroza captained the second team that included Giese, Kruse and Dylan Gilbert and Cole Cisco of Celina.
The girls second team was made up of Dunlap, Allie Meeker of Shawnee, Katie Manger of Wapak, Rachel Gerken of Defiance and Dorian Regandanz of Celina. Abbey Ambroza of Shawnee was just on the outside looking in.
