Financial education day shows students the ‘real world’

LIMA — Insurance, car payments, rent, children, taxes. All are things that many adults deal with, but area high school students now know a lot more on these topics after a financial day.Students from six areas schools came to the University of Northwestern Ohio event center in Lima on Thursday to learn about finances in the “real world.”Superior Federal Credit Union’s 11th annual Superior Financial Education Day teaches high school juniors and seniors about what their future will be like when students are on their own and have to manage their own finances. Students learn about how much different career paths take and how expensive things such as insurance, children, taxes and renting or owning a place to live are.
