Greater chance of Ohio drivers hitting a deer

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohioans have a greater chance of running into a deer on the road over the next year.That’s according to State Farm, the state’s largest insurer, which says motorists in the Buckeye State have a 1-in-127 chance of hitting a deer in the one-year period that began Aug. 1. Last year, chances were 1-in-135.The insurer bases its expectations on claims data and state licensed-driver counts from the Federal Highway Administration, according to The Columbus Dispatch ( time for car-deer collisions is approaching as mating and hunting seasons run through the fall and winter.

Letter: Elida levy seems a waste of good money

The Ohio Department of Education has released letter grades given to public school districts, as reported in The Lima News on Saturday (“Little improvement seen in report cards”). Six of nine school districts in Allen County received grades of A or B. As a resident in the Elida school district I am very unhappy that Elida was not one of them.

Lima Senior-Middletown series will return in 2015
