Lima: Time to fix railroad crossing

LIMA — The largely problematic railroad crossing in Allen County, specifically North Cable Road, shows no immediate signs of being repaired, but a resolution passed at the Lima City Council meeting Monday could put more pressure on state and federal officials to be proactive in addressing the issue.Lima City Council President John Nixon said city officials’ hands are tied in the maintenance process of the tracks, as the rails are technically the property of the railroad company, Genesee and Wyoming Inc. Nixon said if crews were to conduct maintenance on the rail by treating for weeds, rodents, trash, etc. it’s technically trespassing.
