LIMA — It was a journey that Ray Benacchi, of Lima, described as “adventurous” and “unbelievable.”Benacchi was a member of the U.S. Navy in 1946 when he was given a rare chance to meet up with relatives who lived in Italy. While he has made a few return trips to the country of his ancestors, that one five-day trip in 1946 was special and has given him memories for a lifetime.“I documented the trip as well as finding information that I obtained from the ship’s log and from relatives that were living in Italy,” Benacchi said.
